Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for boosting the online presence of YWCA Minneapolis by integrating social media into our brand identity, growing our audiences, driving online traffic and increasing brand exposure through social media communities. The social media specialist is responsible for developing the social media strategy, creating and publishing content, project management and execution, process development, editorial oversight, governance for ongoing social content and on-brand communications and follow-up to inquiries and comments through a customer-service lens. Collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team and building and sustaining internal relationships are key. This position monitors emerging social media tools and analyzes data to support YWCA Minneapolis business, marketing and public relations strategies.

Part-Time, 20 hours/week

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Propose and implement cross-channel social media optimization strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement, and support business goals
  • Oversee the planning of the social media calendar, generate new engaging content ideas in coordination with Marketing team and business units, create/publish posts and manage day-to-day maintenance of YWCA social activity across all social channels
  • Monitor and respond to comments and tagged content across all key social channels on a daily basis
  • Develop and implement organic social campaigns
  • Identify habits of our online customers, build and nurture social media platform-specific communities and audiences, and suggest/implement way to reach a broader audience
  • Drive conversion of earned and owned media traffic
  • Analyze audience engagement and report on web traffic from all social media channels and its effectiveness, with recommendations to improve
  • Interpret social media and other online data to react to issues and other concerns that may affect YWCA’s image
  • Keep pace with social media industry trends and how emerging social networks, features and tools can benefit YWCA Minneapolis
  • Provide support on other projects as requested by Manager, Strategic Communications

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Communications who reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The incumbent will interact with the Marketing and Communications team, business unit teams and external vendors.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study 
  • 2-3 years of work experience in social media as a specialist, coordinator or similar role
  • Experience with social media management tools, like Sprout Social or Hootsuite
  • Proficient writing, editing and proofing skills
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing
  • Familiarity with online content management systems and SEO
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as team player
  • Detail and results oriented with ability to be creative
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and equity; and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social media management, marketing, or communications

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a desk.
  • Must be able to occasionally life and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Be able to travel to various YWCA and/or community sites.
  • Flexible work hours

COMPENSATION: Range: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
