The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Lead of Visitor Experience, the Visitor Experience Associate will handle cash, communicate clearly, and get along with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. You will thrive in this role if you work well with crowds, are self-motivated, focused, and reliable. You also have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.

You Will:

  • Help visitors get tickets to the museum or to programs.
  • Answer the phone and respond to visitor emails.
  • Talk to visitors in the galleries about the exhibitions.
  • Help people find their seats for theater screenings.
  • Process new museum memberships.
  • Assist visitors with reservations to the restaurant.
  • Give tours or talks in the galleries.
  • Help visitors plan out their visit.
  • Teach visitors how to use the mobile app.
  • Check-in group visitors.
  • Work with the leadership team to report any hardware or software issues.
  • Help set up public programs, including family days, live reads, and third-party events.
  • In an emergency, help evacuate visitors to a safe location.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 1 years’ experience in dealing with cash operating procedures within a museum, retail or fast paced environment.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility with shift patterns (Available nights, weekends, and some holidays).
  • The drive and energy to play a key role in the success of the Museum.

 

Phyiscal requirements:

  • Be mobile for extended periods of time (including standing and walking).
