We are seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to provide services at Watsonville Community Hospital and various outpatient clinic locations.
The Certified Nurse-Midwife supports the organization’s mission, vision and values and works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, midwives, lactation consultants, behavioral health specialists, medical assistants and other staff.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Model family-centered and trauma-informed care, and engage in shared decision making with patients.
Perform antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum midwifery care, as well as preventive health services, gynecologic services and comprehensive family planning care as specified in written SPLG protocols. This includes health history, physical examination, lab ordering and interpretation, diagnosis, treatment and health education.
Refer appropriately to team members in keeping with the concept of multi-disciplinary team-based care.
Consult and refer to OBGYN’s in outpatient and inpatient settings per established collaborative care guidelines.
Document all care rendered in EHR per standard professional expectations.
Participate in department meetings, peer review and quality improvement programs.
Provide clinical consultation to the Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) and staff as needed and assist with evaluations of CPSP staff.
Facilitate classes when needed for groups of patients and families to provide information concerning pregnancy, childbirth and family planning.
Work with scheduling staff to ensure that provider productivity standards of 2.5 patients per patient care hour are achieved at a minimum.
Work in conjunction with supervisor, support staff and operations team to ensure optimal patient flow.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Consistently adhere to or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations in interactions with colleagues, patients, and external partners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
