Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. Our entire community is committed to cultivating each student's unique talents and passions, providing myriad opportunities for students to discern and realize their individual intellectual, artistic, athletic, social, and spiritual potential. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Description

Position Summary:
The Director of Admissions is a mission-driven, experienced professional with a deep passion for Catholic secondary education. The Director of Admissions actively collaborates with the SHC Admissions Team to lead a comprehensive, year-round admissions program for all prospective students (pre-high students, transfer students, international students). The Director of Admissions directs and oversees all summer learning at SHC including the SHC Summer Institute for pre-high students as well as the SHC Summer School for current high school students. The Director of Admissions actively represents SHC in the greater Bay Area and cultivates relationships with a myriad of critical stakeholders such as school principals, placement counselors, and community partners. The Director of Admissions contributes to a shared vision of creating a current and future student body that advances the Lasallian Vincentian Catholic mission of SHC. The Director of Admissions is a key leadership position of the SHC Institutional Advancement Team and reports to the Director of Enrollment Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Mission

  • Invest in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle
  • Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation
  • Provide exemplary personal and professional presence throughout the San Francisco and greater Bay Area community and actively promote SHC’s mission, philosophy, and brand among all current and future stakeholders

Student Outreach & Admissions Programming

  •  Establish, supervise and direct all elements of the student outreach and admissions program for pre-high students, transfer students, and international students in consultation with the Director of Enrollment Management and Vice President for Advancement & Enrollment
  • Direct all on-campus outreach programming and events including Irish for a Day, Open House,Parent Visits & Socials, Performances & Showcases, Vincentian Connections Day, WinterInstitute, and Summer Institute 
  • Recruit and train SHC Student Ambassadors and the Student Ambassador Leadership Team and invite and oversee their participation in SHC Admissions programs and events
  •  Direct and grow summer learning opportunities at SHC especially among pre-high students who participate in the Summer Institute and high school students who participate in the SHC Summer School
  • Develop and execute an aggressive partner school visit and presentation program with Catholic,private, and public partner schools in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area
  • Maximize SHC’s presence at Bay Area high school fairs and other community events

Application Administration

  • Streamline the administration of SHC’s application process to include the creation of the annual application, crafting and updating of website messaging, requesting and receipt of transcripts, directing the administration of the annual High School Placement Test, processing and review of applications, communication of decisions, and collection and transfer of new student record, transcripts and material for student permanent files
  • Serve as a senior member of the Admissions Committee; contribute to the development of selection criteria and review and recommend applicants for admission
  • Review and recommend applicants for admission to the DePaul Scholar Program and Inquiry & Innovation Program
  • Review and recommend applicants with documented learning differences for admissions in partnership with SHC’s Academic Resource Specialist
  • Review and recommend incoming 9th grade students for four-year merit scholarship awards
  • Actively contribute to the annual Admissions Team calendar of programming, projects, and events

Marketing, Messaging, Community

  • Develop and execute short and long term strategies around improving admissions practices to enhance the diversity, equity, and inclusion of SHC’s student body
  • Participate in the development of marketing and messaging materials that interpret SHC to interested candidates and their families
  • Hold membership in the Archdiocesan High School Admissions Directors Committee; and represent the school to that committee at its regular meetings
  • Serve as an active and accessible liaison with all partner schools, both elementary and secondary

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office products, Google Applications, mail merge tools, databases, WordPress and social media
  • Candidate will also be committed to ongoing education, professional growth, and mission formation
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google/Gmail and internet usage, and; database management preferred
