The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Manager of Youth Programs, the Education Studio Coordinator will be responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Shirley Temple Education Studio. You will collaborate with colleagues in the Education and Public Engagement Department to execute meaningful opportunities for the public to use the studio and make connections to the art, science, and technical aspects of filmmaking.

You Will:

  • Monitor and track the operational needs of the Shirley Temple Education Studio, including overseeing and maintaining all computers and audio/video equipment.
  • Keep inventory of all equipment and ensure organization.
  • Ensure that all software is consistently updated and installed.
  • Recommend equipment and materials for repair and purchase.
  • Author operational policies for the maintenance and use of technology in the space.
  • Be the primary liaison between the Academy IT department and the Education team.
  • Develop training methods to learn new software and instruct new users.
  • Develop infrastructure for the operations and logistics of the sound studios.
  • Facilitate regular drop-in programming for visitors.
  • Ensure the space and technology meet broad accessibility needs, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in digital media education, studio management, or related profession.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience. A combination of education, training and teaching experience will be accepted.
  • Experience with audio engineering and running a sound booth.
  • Technical knowledge of standard post-production equipment, including lighting, cameras, and other studio equipment.
  • Prior experience working directly with youth.
  • Experience leading a collaborative process of co-creating with numerous stakeholders and constituents.
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate evening and weekend programs.
