SUMMARY:

The Executive Director is responsible for the efficient operations and the overall management and direction of the day-to-day functions of the Assisted Living and Memory Care community in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality care and service is provided to our residents. He/she will hire, evaluate, coordinate, monitor performance, schedule, and supervise staff in accordance with company policy. The Executive Director is also responsible for achieving and maintaining budgeted occupancy, representing the community to the community, and creating and maintaining a culture that supports quality service and high customer satisfaction for the residents and a culture that promotes positive and a fully engaged team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities described below are representative of those that an Executive Director will likely encounter while performing the basic functions of the position. 1. Promote the mission and core values of the company to residents, visitors, co-workers, and the surrounding community.

2. As a department head you are expected to have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members, and professionals.

3. Assume the leadership, responsibility, and accountability of directing the overall management of the community. Delegates administrative authority and responsibility for the day-to-day operations to personnel in charge when absent from the community.

4. Ensures open and timely communication with associates, residents, families, and home office team regarding community operations and programs.

5. Responsible for compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and legal requirements governing the operation of the community.

6. Develop and implement quality improvement process, strategic planning process, and environmental safety program in order to maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests.

7. Manage a marketing outreach plan and cultivate a network of industry partners for the purposes of identifying and partnering with local service resources.

8. Ensure the team is given the necessary resources to carry out their duties in an efficient economic manner.

9. Assure implementation of all operating and financial controls required under community and company policy.

10. Ensure proper planning and implementation of staff orientation and training.

11. Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with all departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas and overall improvement of services.

12. Ensure completion of timely associate reviews.

13. Ensure that counseling efforts, retraining, and corrective action is administered fairly and in accordance with community and company policies.

14. Ensure completion and review of incident/accident reports and implement changes through proper channels (i.e. Safety Committee, etc.) to minimize future issues. Ensure proper communication with the home office team and state compliance reporting.

15. Prepare an annual operating budget in conjunction with home office team. Ensure communication of what resources are required to carry out programs and activities of the community.

16. Review resident complaints and grievances and assure appropriate actions are taken. Discuss with residents and families as appropriate.

17. Oversight of all record-keeping functions within the community, including those records which are necessary to disclose fully the services provided.

18. Ensuring that all required staffing, schedules (if applicable), including backup coverage for staff are met at all times.

19. Conducting and/or attending required in-service training and orientation, as per state regulation.

20. The daily operation of the community and providing direction and leadership to department managers to ensure their success.

21. Participation in the Manager-on-Duty Program.

22. Other duties as requested.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS: (These qualifications meet or exceed state-specific requirements.)

a. Computer Skills: Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, database managers presentation software.

b. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to handle multiple priorities, develop a cohesive management team, direct the overall operation of the community and make business decisions on a daily basis as required. Must be knowledgeable in the business of providing long-term personal care or have related experience, as well as current state and local standards. The ability to handle emergency situations calmly and completely is essential. The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is essential.

c. Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University or equivalent experience in human service management, housing management, and/or nursing home management is helpful.

d. Certificates/Licenses: Kansas licensed Assisted Living Administrator.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and auditory acuity. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs., and be able to carry objects. Must be able to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit and stand. Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate. Must use good body mechanics. Should be neat and well-groomed. Must be able to type and use a computer. Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A candidate for Executive Director will be degreed in nursing, health care management, or a related field, or will be high school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of five years in health care management, preferably in a long-term care setting. Must be licensed through the state and currently up to date on all CEU's.

Must possess exemplary work ethics, excellent communication skills, and leadership capabilities. Must have a successful track record of managing staff and developing teamwork. Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 50 pounds and be able to move about the facility quickly to be able to physically assist residents and/or staff in the event of an emergency.
