Senior Manager, Social Media and Influencer Marketing 

Description

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Social Media and Influencer Marketing to continue to lead the growth and management of the Academy's almost 13M followers. You have a passion for movies and a thirst for innovation and enthusiasm to lead the Academy to the center of the conversation about film across its digital platforms. You will oversee and execute the Academy's social presence, audience engagement and voice. In addition to developing a social strategy that inspires cross functional teams and the Academy's membership, you will drive big thinking while managing social media across organic, paid, editorial campaigns, influencers and digital programs around the Academy's initiatives, membership, events and original content.

You are a storyteller who understands the concept of 'super movie fans' and thrives on fueling that passion in conjunction with building positive relationships. You are driven to conceive creative solutions to strategic challenges, are continuously curious about ever-evolving digital trends, understand and practice attention to detail, and are passionate and knowledgeable about the evolution of social media while never losing that zest to bring creativity and discovery of new ideas and executions to the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Academy's social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify and future emerging platforms.
  • Develop relationships with influencers and creators to ideate and build creative, impactful social media campaigns to support our biggest initiatives.
  • Develop strategies that focus on audience growth across platforms, awareness of year-round Academy programs and initiatives, and contributions to lifecycle marketing.
  • Build and maintain content calendars while managing the execution, community management, day-to-day social media content rollout and fan interaction for the Academy and campaigns that target specific audiences within the film community.
  • Work with internal teams, agencies, influencers and members to create digital and social creative content to support the organization's initiatives and events.
  • Grow influencer marketing programs and manage from ideation to execution.
  • Assist in development of strategies, along with collaborating and executing campaigns with social platform partners to promote and drive tune-in for the annual Oscars telecast.
  • Analyze, assess and share performance across social media channels of individual posts and content, as well as broad content trends.
  • Leverage metrics to inform creative direction and decisions.
  • Execute and optimize paid social campaigns for the organization, in promotion of the Oscars telecast, and in collaboration with the Academy Museum.
  • Keep a pulse on current social media and cultural trends to identify new opportunities for our social program.
  • Be bold, inventive and willing to take risks.
  • Think differently and apply new forms of Social marketing tactics to reach and grow our Academy audiences.
 
Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in film, TV, music or other forms of entertainment media.
  • Experience building, executing and scaling strategic and creative marketing campaigns, plus growing multiple social media accounts.
  • Experience managing influencer marketing programs with relationships across entertainment, music, culture, lifestyle.
  • Experience executing both paid and organic social media and how they can be leveraged together.
  • A Passion for movies and storytelling is a must.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign and Audition or Logic Pro.
  • A history of managing and leading agency teams in a fast paced and relationship focused environment.
  • Proven understanding of different social media channels and content performance strengths for Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Snap, and Facebook. Familiarity with fan engagement on YouTube, Twitch, and other content platforms will be looked on very favorably.
  • Ability to steer creative direction of social media assets created by internal content/design team and outside partners or vendors.
  • Strong understanding of typography principles as well as the ability to execute core social design styles (including GIFs, cinemagraphs, teaser assets etc.)
  • Appreciation for pop culture, what is happening in the zeitgeist and around Millennial and Gen Z lifestyles.
  • Basic video editing skills and experience using Adobe After Effects and Illustrator as well as Spark AR / Lens Studio, iMovie etc. are ideal, but not essential.
  • Strong project management skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, prioritize, and make decisions.
  • Adept at working with social media reporting and publishing tools such as Sprout Social and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud to monitor campaign performance and optimize based on key learnings.
