Location Madison, WI  
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  

The Project Engineer, Structural performs structural design and engineering services for a wide variety of building types nationally. At ERDMAN, this involvement extends from concept planning to owner occupancy.  

Key Responsibilities - Engineering Design: 

  • Prepares and presents concepts to the owner and design team.  
  • Explains design options to communicate the associated benefits or risk to the design, schedule, and budget.  
  • Collaborates with architects, other engineering disciplines, and site design as structural systems are developed.  
  • Coordinates early trade involvement of critical systems. 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering required.

Certifications and/or Licenses: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Registered Structural Engineer (SE) preferred

Experience & Training:

  • 5-10 years of structural engineering design experience. 
  • Understanding of the design process including concept, schematic, design development, and construction as it relates to structural engineering. 
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, light gauge steel and wood design for building structures 
  • Understanding of healthcare including medical equipment impacts and considerations for structural design, IBC and ASCE-7. 
  • Working knowledge of the AISC steel construction manual, ACI building code requirements for structural concrete, national design specification for wood construction, and building code requirements and specifications for masonry structures. 
  • Proficient in MS Office, Autodesk Revit structure, RAM, and TEDDS and Visual Analysis for modeling and design of the superstructure. 
  • 5% travel within the United States required.
