Description

Summary: The Government Affairs Director will be responsible for advocacy, lobbying, and building and maintaining relationships with lawmakers and regulators in Congress and administrative agencies. The Director will work closely with trade groups, contract lobbyists, and StarMed's State Government Relations, Community Relations, and Media Relations teams to advance StarMed's agenda and expand access to responsible credit nationally. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, executive communications and a willingness to attend in-person events and meetings.


Responsibilities:

• Develop and direct advocacy campaigns to advance and expand access to responsible credit nationally, and other key business objectives

• Establish, build, and maintain StarMed's reputation as a leading responsible lender among policymakers and thought leaders

• Oversee StarMed's contract lobby firms, work closely with our trade associations and build and maintain constructive relationships with other key external groups

• Collaborate with internal Legal, Community Relations, Media Relations, and other teams as part of our integrated public affairs and advocacy program

Requirements:

• Eight or more years of progressive responsibility in government, law, economics or other relevant field

• Strong executive communication, message development and advocacy skills

• Deep understanding of laws and regulations governing financial services providers

• 4 year college degree or graduate degree
