SensABLE snacks provides adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities a positive volunteer and work experience through supported, hands-on work in the operation of a snack-focused food truck and virtual snack-o-gram program. We have an exciting Full-Time opportunity for a Vend Coordinator to join our sensABLE Snack food truck team.  


The Vend Coordinator is responsible for food truck vending/distribution service, maintenance, inventory, and customer experience. This is an active and hands-on job, leading staff in a customer service environment. The Vend Coordinator works alongside the Transition Director to provide employment support services to individuals participating in the sensABLE Snacks food truck program.

Lead community-based food truck activities. Duties include: cash register reconciliations, time management, multi-tasking, customer relations and feedback, safety and securement of all assets, driving and interacting with community and hosts.

  • The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, team player, and adaptable leader.
  • sensABLE snacks home base facility may share space with the other programs and thus require flexibility, deference, and patience to the supported individuals and staff operating there.
  • The vending sites will require travel and serve in public areas open to the elements, customer disruption, traffic, event circumstances. There may be less access to restrooms and other comforts of a typical office setting including above-average noise levels.
  • Maintains appropriate records & data for expenses
  • Compiles and completes credit card reconciliations & documentation in a timely manner
  • Manages the logistics of routes, including coordinating schedules and serving as liaison with community host venues.
  • Manages the logistics of virtual snack sales including inventory control, packaging, and distribution.
  • Oversees that truck and maintenance duties are kept up-to-date. This includes but is not limited to: monthly safety checks, tire pressure monitoring, engine oil changes, generator oil changes, tire rotation, weatherproofing, sanitizing water tanks, and overall cleanliness of the trucks.
  • Oversees regular cleaning of the truck, both inside and out.
  • Ensures truck is loaded and unloaded in a timely and thorough manner, in preparation/culmination of a distribution
  • Ensures the supplies and inventory are available, counted, rotated, purchased, and cleaned out as necessary.
  • Purchases inventory from various vendors – in-store and online. May require travel and transport.
  • Has a general understanding of and ability to troubleshoot technology used on the truck, such as point of sale, ring doorbell, mi-fi, GPS tracker, security camera, audio equipment
  • Assists coaches individuals in any element of the business including but not limited to actual vending on the truck. Other duty areas include shopping, inventory measurement, and stocking, cleaning tasks, maintaining food truck equipment, administration, and marketing tasks.
  • Assists with providing support as well as feedback to the Transition Director via formal and informal vocational assessments.
  • Provides input to Transition Director related to desired outcomes and progress.
  • Assists individuals we support with inclusion, respect, dignity, and his/her right to confidentiality.
  • Lifts and transfers individuals, we support as needed.
  • Completes required paperwork (may vary by location) accurately and as required by the program.
  • Completes recommended training in order to best serve the program and individual needs.
  • Supports volunteers or staff as they learn and follow food truck job duty protocols.
  • Completes training and in-service to learn the food truck operations checklists and procedures.
  • Performs customer service duties in a manner that models appropriate behavior for successful sales retention and hospitality industry acceptance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the community director or transition director. program manager, director, or other supervisors
  • Responsible for cash drawer reconciliation, oversight and ensures deposits are made in a timely fashion
  • In conjunction with the program team (Transition Director, Community Director, Outreach Coordinator, EMPOWER Director, etc.) the Vend Coordinator will create a truck route calendar at least two weeks out, maintaining all contractual obligations/locations (ETR/CoH distribution, food bank drops, EMPOWER vends, out of area vends, etc.)
Position Requirements


  • High School diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of restaurant/food truck OR retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple responsibilities, and prioritize.
  • Must complete and maintain current Easter Seals UCP training curriculum, which includes, but not limited to the following: CPR/First Aid, NCI (as appropriate), Medication Administration (as appropriate), core competencies, and other pieces of training relevant to the position as defined by local program guidelines.
  • Must be willing to work occasional scheduled weekends, early mornings, or evenings as needed.
  • Must have valid state-appropriate driver’s license and reliable transportation. May be required to transport supported individuals to and from job site in personal vehicle.

Equipment Used:

Telephone, Computer, Calculator, Fax, Copier, food truck motor vehicle, Point of Sale system, Printer, GPS, Electrical and mechanical equipment related to operating the food truck business.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 Lbs.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to develop written correspondence and determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of talking, hearing, sitting for long periods of time, and performing repetitive motions such as using a computer.
  • Must be able to perform the physical tasks necessary to support individuals such as lifting, bending, and standing. These tasks are unique to the individual supported and/or the particular vending sites.
  • Ability to climb up and down steps, stand, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, twist and work for long periods in the confined space of a food truck.


The Vend Coordinator is typically in multiple environments including home base and community settings that include distribution sites such as parks, businesses, city streets, and other open-air venues. The nature of the job lends itself to being at the mercy of the weather, customer demand, and environmental circumstances; thus, the work can change pace quickly and the staff may encounter uncomfortable sensory experiences.

SensABLE snacks operates in the public purview, requiring astute awareness to varied socioeconomic and multicultural regions. Operations are subject to video/audiotaping for internal security protection measures as well as marketing strategies that include filming, photography, and social media. Staff are exposed to situations where the public may not ask for permission to photograph, videotape, and upload content to social media.
