The Events Production Specialist provides support and partners with the Events Team to achieve department goals of high quality guest experiences through thoughtful, detail oriented and organized private and public events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Events Team to coordinate, schedule and direct zoo volunteers and zoo staff for onsite & offsite zoo events.
  • Primary contact for sponsor related activities including communication regarding booth setup and on-site support on event days.
  • Provide production support to the zoo’s annual and signature events. Includes brainstorm and research of new features and activities, purchasing and preparing supplies, and participating in event setup and execution.
  •  Occasionally responsible for directing work assignment of seasonal assistants and interns. • Accept lead role for internal zoo events as assigned by either the Events Program Manager or Senior Director of Grounds, Operations and Events. Includes working with initiating department to plan, communicate, and implement details of their event.
  • Support Concert Manager in Zoo Tunes operation and logistical elements including but not limited to ticketing system administration, ticketing equipment management, and facilitation of advertising asset procurement and sign off.
  • Tracks event status and performs a variety of detail-oriented tasks to ensure event preparedness.
  • Use established processes to communicate with all zoo departments who may be impacted by a planned event: Group Sales, Catering, Admissions, Animal Management, A/V, Admissions & Guest Services, Development, Education, Maintenance, Security etc.
  • Meet event deadlines, projects and targets to keep to an event schedule; participate in problem solving event related issues.
  • Provides high quality customer service to guests and internal customers.
  • Maintain signage inventory and storage and work with Creative Services and Events Staff to submit new sign requests fulfilling event needs.
  • Monitors equipment inventory for event preparedness; including repairs, tracking log, purchasing, storage, etc.
  • Performs general office duties: composes correspondence and maintains event software, files, database entry, dispatch meeting minutes and reminders.
  • Perform essential duties of the Event Production Assistant roles and responsibilities including acting as primary event day contact for external clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Two-year Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university preferred; and one to two years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate clearly and completely both verbally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid US driver’s license preferred.

Must be able to comfortably maneuver on zoo grounds at night and/or without much light.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The noise level can be loud to very loud during concerts and jungle parties. While working with catering, the employee may spend time in a kitchen. This position necessarily requires weekend and evening work

Pay: $22.00/hour, plus benefits
