GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Imaging Center Manager and the Radiologists, the technologist is responsible to perform any and all general x-ray examinations including helping/taking of post fluoroscopic images (UGI, Small Bowel, Esophogram, etc) and all Mammography examinations

JOB DUTIES:

The following description of job responsibilities and standards is intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but is not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Mammography:

1. Technologist is responsible for performing any and all exams within Mammography. This will include; screenings, diagnostic exams, magnification spot view and compression spot views, biopsy, and tomosythesis.

2. The Technologist will be able to perform all Q.A. and Q.C. in regards to Mammography. This shall include all testing required prior to the first patient.

X-Ray/Fluoro:

1. Demonstrates ability to perform all diagnostic radiology examinations. This shall include all fluoroscopic examinations.

2. Technologist will learn the PACS system. Complete knowledge of how to process an examination so that it can be sent to the radiologist for reading.

3. Responsible for all radiation safety equipment, Lead aprons, Thyroid collars and half aprons for technologist and patient protection, including proper maintenance. This will also include the fluoroscopic aprons that attach to the fluoroscopic unit.

4. Able to perform patient education, (informed consent, after exam instructions).

General:

1. Use lean tools for daily continuous improvement (standard work, visual management, countermeasure boards, etc.).

2. Participate as a team member in company lean events, as required.

3. Must attend daily huddles at work location.

4. Assists in quality assurance program as requested to enhance job knowledge and understanding

5. Maintains patient records. Follows all HIPPA rules and regulations regarding patient information.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Requires good communication and organization skills. Must have legible handwriting. Working knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and medications to adequately understand radiologist’s orders. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and ability to communicate medical information correctly and clearly.

Position Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

1. A.S. Degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited school, registered in

California, CRT and with the A.R.R.T.

2. Certificate in basic cardiopulmonary life support.

3. Must meet Continuing Education requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment. Position requires ability to constantly lift objects heavier than 30 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to stoop, reach, kneel and crouch. Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 5 to 30 minutes at a time. Individuals must be able to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time.

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday - 4/10 hour days

REPORTS TO: Imaging Center Manager
