Adventure Summary

The purpose of the position is to maintain the buildings, grounds, trails, trap, skeet, Crazy Quail and 5-stand machines, also making sure the buildings are properly stocked with adequate supplies. The Grounds and Range Caretaker will assist Brownells Media departments, Law Enforcement Agencies, special event coordinators, 4H shooting sports Coordinator, SCTP coaches, SCPP coaches, local scholastic cross-country coaches and the general shooting public. The Grounds and Range Caretaker will be tasked with performing Range Safety Officer duties for Brownells employees and paying customers. During off season months the Grounds and Range Caretaker will assist in the Retail Store barring projects, Research and Development and maintenance duties.


What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all equipment and buildings, basic maintenance
  • RSO responsibilities (required)
  • Maintain grounds, parking lots and trails
  • Maintain Law Enforcement barricades and training aids
  • Assist in R&D as needed
  • Assist in range set up for events and media filming
  • Firearms I (retail store) in off months, duties permitting


What You Will Need

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to safely operate Big Spring’s equipment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing and able to assume Range Safety Officer responsibilities
  • Knowledge of safe operation of firearms
  • Must have a proven track record of safe work practices
  • Personal credibility and demonstrated commitment to company values
  • Excellent driving record and ability to drive a variety of vehicles
  • Must be willing to work event weekends and/or night events with less than 24 hours notice
  • First aid experience
  • Firearms I education and experience

  • Must exercise operational security discretion when exposed to sensitive Law Enforcement or Military training tactics
  • Must have experience with research and development operational security
  • Firearms I/II knowledge and skills

Physical Demands
