Description

The Opportunity Manager role is very important to the profitable growth of the company. This position is responsible for growing and maintaining Sales and Gross Margin through competitive, accurate, and timely opportunity quotes. During the quoting process, the Opportunity Manager leads a cross-functional team to ensure that customer expectations are clear and achievable and that the quote meets profitability targets. After winning the business, the Opportunity Manager deploys effective project management skills to lead a cross-functional team to identify critical paths and project milestones, assign and realize timely task assignments including sample OTD, quality documentation, labeling, timely and accurate fulfillment, etc. This role will manage the successful achievement of the project all the way through transition to the Order Fulfillment team. The Opportunity Manager also analyzes the results of the RFQ process to identify trends, areas to improve profit margins, and captures other data and feedback so they can partner with Sales on changes needed to increase hit rate and profitability. Fully comprehends ESP International’s customer base and champions strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive competitive and timely opportunity quotes
    • Match customer needs with capabilities within the Company’s partner supply base and actively manage supplier RFQ process to ensure timely quote turn-around
    • During the quote process and after winning the business, deploys effective project management skills to lead other internal groups to meet customer expectations
    • Provide regular updates on the risk and timelines for each project
    • Supply reporting to ISM/BDM focused on hit rate, RFQ OTD, and quote duration
    • Analyze rate of attainment and what customers we have a higher success of wining RFQ’s
    • Engage with customers to gather feedback on submitted RFQ’s, including why ESP is not awarded an RFQ
    • Review any quotes that did not meet stated duration goal and identify root cause
  • Maximize Customer Profitability
    • Use knowledge of markets and customers to collaborate with ISM/BDM on gross margin targets
    • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best purchase terms, including price breaks and blanket orders
    • Report any opportunities that are at risk of not meeting initial GM %
    • Lead the analysis, submission, and implementation of pricing updates driven by increase in supplier costs or other initiatives taken to increase Company profitability
    • Investigate substitution possibilities to maximize gross margin
    • Report each month on GM realization to ISM
    • Make recommendations on how to increase GM with customer
  • Monitor Opportunity success rate
    • Elicit feedback from BDM’s and customers on completed OP quotes
    • Create reporting on win vs. lost Ops
    • Follow up with customer/BDM after quote is returned for feedback or any edits that need to be made the quote
    • Report Op success rate to ISM and BDM’s
    • Deliver data on lost OP’s and action plans on how to correct

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 2 years of experience in Project Management, Customer Service, or Supply Base Management discipline or related field.
