Waubonsie Mental Health Center is looking for a highly motivated self-starter (with an eye for detail) to fill our open Billing Coordinator position! Under the supervision of our Administrative Director, the Billing Coordinator will work on the front and back ends of the Center’s billing processes to ensure timely submission of claims, posting of payments, investigating denials, filing appeals, and balancing/reconciling of accounts receivable.

Essential Functions

  • Preparing/submitting insurance claims & patient statements to clearing house for processing.
  • Posting payments received from insurance companies (Medicaid, Wellmark/BCBS, and other 3rd party payors), clients, and other funding entities.
  • Investigating, amending, & resubmitting unprocessed claims.
  • Filing appeals for denials and providing supporting documentation as needed.
  • Utilizing technology to monitor accounts receivable/aging accounts to reduce overall AR balance.
  • Utilizes insurance websites and portals to obtain invoices, determine client eligibility for services, and check claims status.
  • Interacts and collaborates extensively with insurance/funder contacts.
  • Balancing & reconciling monthly receipts.

Position Requirements

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 2- 4 Year Degree, or comparable medical billing training/certification
  • 2-3 years’ experience in medical billing (ideally behavioral health) or accounting

Education/experience preference are flexible- willing to train the right person!

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery/et cetera, operate basic office equipment such as computers/calculators/copy machines/printers/scanners, communicate verbally/in writing, and lift up to 25lbs as needed.
