POSITION Senior Maintenance Mechanic Lead

REPORTS TO Production Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Growing Houston, Texas based manufacturer of aftermarket and OEM truck accessories is seeking a Senior Maintenance Mechanic Lead. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic Lead is responsible for performing diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Technology is preferred. A maintenance certificate from a technical college, with focus in the areas of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems repair or 10+ years maintaining industrial equipment and automation is acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, with strong emphasis on Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge.
  • Basic Motor Technology knowledge (VFD, PD, Servo, A/C), Hydraulic/Pneumatic system knowledge.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily operations and organization of maintenance work
  • Ensure work orders and PM’s are handled in a timely manner and completed utilizing FIIX CMMS system.
  • Schedule, supervise, and assist Maintenance Technicians if required
  • Perform diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing and electrical maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide long term corrective solutions to aid in the continuous improvement process.
  • Complete planned and unplanned maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic equipment including welders, benders, lasers, press brakes, powder coat systems, CNC machines, robotic weld systems, forklifts, pallet jacks, and air compressors.
  • Work with outside contractors to repair, refurbish or install building systems and equipment on schedule as needed.
  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks to support process improvement, scrap reduction, and other engineering-led activities.
  • Consistently follow all established work and safety standards.
  • Perform all responsibilities in alignment with our values and with a commitment to safety.
  • Utilize planned maintenance program FIIX to complete emergency, planned and preventative maintenance orders.
  • Perform safety checks on equipment and maintain a clean work area using 5S standards.
 
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge preferred, including motion/motor control, hydraulic/pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, bending equipment, lasers, press brakes, robotic weld systems, and powder coat equipment.
  • Experience in automotive is highly desired.
  • Areas of specialization may include one or more of the following: electrical/electronics, mechanical, or automation/PLC/robotics and the willingness to learn additional.
  • Experience creating & maintaining a positive atmosphere in a collaborative work team.
  • Ability to manage workload while contributing to a positive, team oriented work environment
  • Skilled at troubleshooting automation, conveyance and electromechanical systems.
  • Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools, as well as general machining and welding (optional).
  • Good overall computer skills, including Microsoft Office, CMMS and e-mail programs.
  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform all physical functions of working in a manufacturing environment such as, climbing, standing, bending, reaching and squatting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working with and near electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment.

Working in and on machines in a non-air conditioned environment.

Rotating shift work and overtime required.

Weekend and holiday support sometimes required.
