Share Email Opening Title Test Engineer (2021-080)  Astronics Subsidiary Astronics AES   Location Kirkland, WA   Description JOB SUMMARY The Test Engineer manages new product qualification test activity and completes tasks to support test equipment design and assembly on schedule and within budget.  The TE develops automated test fixture design and selection of the appropriate test equipment and provides direction and support to technicians performing environmental and electrical qualification test activities.  Communicates project deliverables and communicates status updates regularly.  Serves as champion of process improvements and mentor to less experienced test engineers.  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Authors and reviews requirements-based procedures, reports, analyses, and customer communications supporting aerospace R&D teams. Design, document, and coordinate the build of engineering cables, fixtures, and tests systems. Coordinate concurrent projects/tasks, work with R&D engineers, lead technician support teams, and mentor junior engineers. Provide EMC and Electrical technical support and communication to business groups and customers. Identify, manage, and communicate status of project deliverables. Initiate and participate in continuous improvement projects and project teams, as required, most often taking a leadership role. Mentor and instruct less experienced test engineers (as delegated by manager). Expert understanding of DO-160, Airbus, Boeing, and MIL-STD-461 EMC test requirements. Expert understanding of Boeing and Airbus electrical qualification tests with the ability to determine appropriate test conditions and limits. Experienced in operating, maintaining, and repairing EMC test chambers, test benches, and associated HW/SW control systems. Perform other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline preferred, additional experience may be used in lieu of degree. Demonstrates proficiency (typically 8+ years of direct experience in the essential functions of the position)   ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
