Description

The engagement Director plans, schedules and implements an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the physical, mental and psychosocial needs of each resident. Ensures residents are engaged in a meaningful, varied program of activities that meets the individual person centered resident needs. The activities are conducted with individuals or in groups, according to the resident's Plan of Care.

 
Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.   1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Caring person with a desire to work with the frail and elderly.
  3. Preferably previous activities experience in a nursing facility.
  4. Ability to prioritize duties.
  5. Ability to work as part of a team and leader.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain optimum rapport with residents, family members and regulatory agencies.
  7. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, inservicing and documentation.
  8. Activity Director Certification preferred.
  9. Certified Nurse Assistant Certification helpful but not required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Plan, organize and coordinate an activity program according to established policies.
  • Plan group and individual activities, events, and outings designed to restore self care and well-being, and geared to the individual's needs and interest.
  • Develop an appropriate plan of activities for, and visit residents who unwilling or unable to participate in group activities.
  • Prepare facility activity calendar.
  • Organize, schedule, participate, and supervise activities according to the interests expressed by residents.
  • Select and supervise volunteers, families, community agencies, etc. to develop and maximize the activity program for resiidents.
  • Supervise and work effectively with other members of the department.
  • Encourage resident assistance with and participation in scheduled activities.
  • Establish and maintain community involvement and create a home-like atmosphere for residents.
  • Transport or oversee the transportation of residents to outside activities.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions and other information relating to residents, employeees and facility.
  • Performe assisgned tasks in accordance with facility guidelines and procedures.
  • Establish and encourage an atomosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in residents' activity preferences and needs.
  • Provide assistance to nurse's aides, reception and back up as needed.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty rotation.
  • All other assigned job duties.
