Position Summary:

Responsible for packaging and shipping orders, pulling and shelving merchandise, organizing and arranging materials. Provides customer service, lists items with online sellers. Requires high standards of quality presentation of product and customer service.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Scans item codes using computerized scanner equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares items and written description; photographs, measures and determines shipping weight and best shipping options. Uploads (lists) pertinent information to online sale sites.
  • Scans item codes using computerized scanner equipment.
  • Researches, prepares and places donated items on online auction or sale sites.
  • Retrieves items, prepares packing slip, packages and prepares item for shipping.
  • Ensures good product flow; communicates with and keeps other workers supplied with product.
  • Uses material handling equipment such as pallet jack and hand truck to move heavily weighted containers.
  • Operates and maintains inventory, sale, catalog and retrieval system. Prepares regular periodic reports.
  • Maximizes productivity, accuracy and revenue, as well as eliminating waste.
  • Answers customer inquiries via email. Uses email and other Internet applications to communicate with businesses.
  • Responsible for the processing and distribution of donated jewelry to all retail locations.
  • Non-Essential duties
  • Drives locally to deliver and pick up items and supplies. May use personal vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and meet Goodwills performance standards. The requirements listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skill and/or ability. Must be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Education and Experience: Must be fully proficient with Internet, online auction and shopping sites, and Outlook mail and calendaring; basic competency in Word, Excel and Access. Experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control and online customer service highly desirable. Two years progressively relevant work experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; basic math.
  • The Internet, online auction selling and online research.
  • Postal and other shipping methods.
  • Principles and procedures of filing and record keeping and basic report preparation.

    Ability to:
  • Speak and understand the English language sufficient to read and understand materials, communicate with customers and coworkers.
  • Efficiently perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work at usually hectic pace with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations.
  • Work without direct supervision.
  • Organize work flow for optimal output.
  • Interact effectively with customers, particularly via email. Resolve problems to the customers satisfaction in a timely, effective and respectful manner.
  • Operate standard office equipment and material handling equipment such as hand truck and pallet jack.
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Drivers License, car insurance highly desirable.

Position Requirements

Medium physical demand level. Throughout the course of the workday handles and moves a large amount of materials around the worksite. Ability to push/pull and carry up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Pushes heavy wheeled carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment with loads weighing up to 800 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand and walk on hard surface floor for extended period of up to 8 hours. Ability to perform repetitive tasks for up to 8 hours. Must be able to work with others in congested areas. Ability to visually inspect merchandise to ensure that quality and product safety guidelines are being met. Ability to observe merchandise presentation, floor layout, safety and security concerns. Reaching (frequently above shoulder level), handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing is a significant part of the job. Kneels, stoops and bends when retrieving or placing items. Capable of hearing and responding to warning devices on equipment, forklifts and trucks. Ability to occasionally climb ladders. Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the operation. Work is performed indoors in a heated space. Occasionally perform work in outside weather conditions.
