Job Overview
Share the functions of teachers and teaching faculty. Provide support to Intervention Specialist in developing curriculum and instructional course materials. Provide positive learning and guidance techniques to students. Communicate and interact with parents on students' academic progress.
Essential Accountabilities
Values Staff Members:

Attend meetings as directed by IS

Collaborate with team on development of plans and classroom activities weekly

Collaborate with classroom staff and IS to develop upcoming IEPs
-
Assure consistency among staff through observations and check-ins
Values Students:

Supervise students in his/her care at all times

Collect data weekly as assigned by IS and related services personnel
-
Meet with IS and classroom team weekly to discuss student progress and skill acquisition
-
Meet the individual needs of students by individualizing instruction within the classroom environment

Prepare materials and implement lesson plans as directed by the IS

Run assessments under the supervision of classroom IS

Follow student behavior intervention plans and collect data accordingly

Carry out all policies and procedures in a professional manner as outlined in STEPS policies and procedures manual

Contribute to the cleanliness and maintenance of the assigned classroom including organizing materials and teaching stimuli, sterilizing toys and surface areas, placing trash in designated area to be collected, and other daily needs to ensure a clean learning environment

Attend professional in-services in areas related to job responsibilities

Willingly share information/expertise with colleagues

Read current information in professional publications to remain abreast of educational research

Ensure STEPS Educational Group confidentiality agreement for students is maintained

Teach and act in accordance with the objectives and policies of the Academy as directed by your supervisor

Meet all deadlines for turning in required paperwork (including but not limited to IEP data, behavior data, notebook checks, field trip paperwork, quarterly progress reports, service records, time sheets etc.)

Complete paperwork in a neat and legible manner.

Complete all required trainings

Complete other related tasks as assigned
Work Environment
Position can require or involve some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
Physical Demands
Must be able to use a variety of equipment for children with special needs. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment. Must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
