The Certification and Credentialing Services Specialist is responsible for overseeing programs related to certification and credentialing, recertification and renewal, and state licensure per the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) policies, processes, and procedures. The position enforces policies relevant to credentialing and certification and helps credential holders continue to meet the required standards to meet the needs of the growing population of credential holders and ATCB examination candidates. The position works closely with the Executive Director to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and best practices in certification and credentialing. The position is responsible for managing the appellant process and works directly with ATCB appeals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Leads strategic planning activities for the department in conjunction with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
• Directs and oversees process and workflow for ATCB certification, credentialing recertification and renewal, and state licensure operations. Identifies issues of concern, determines opportunities to resolve, and brings recommendations to the Executive Director if appropriate. Monitors and evaluates the performance of ATCB credentials and examination applicants; gives timely feedback and recommends actions for improvement.
• Reviews current credential and certification policy and procedures on an ongoing basis. Identifies needs for change, develops recommended modifications, and works with the Executive Director to bring recommendations to the board for approval. Implements approved changes.
• Manages work with Ethics Officers on issues related to certification or credentialing matters.
• Provides reports for Executive Director, Board of Directors, and others as requested and authorized.
• Determines if certification and credentialing standards are met for each certificant and/or credential holder or applicant.
• Reviews and maintains accurate records for all certification and credentialing appeals. Responsible for providing recommendations to the Board of Appeals for appeal decision matters and communicating decisions to appellants.
• Acts as a resource for staff on all departmental matters.
• Answers customer service and application reviewer questions, guiding them through complex issues, diffusing situations, or handling cases that cannot be fielded by customer service.
• Leads collaboration with CCE division on examination administration for all certification and credentialing exams.
• Assists with ATCB Board and committee meetings.
• Assists Executive Director with other organizational needs and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable):
• Assists in interviewing and training employees.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work in the Executive Director’s absence.
• Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
