Job Summary

The overriding business objective for the Director, Sales and Support for Airborne Power & Control (APC) will be to provide leadership to the production program management, customer support and business development group. The APC revenue and customer base are expanding, and we need to improve the infrastructure of the customer facing teams to match this growth. The successful candidate will lead and grow a team of business and technical professionals, establish, and enforce best practices, and ensure outstanding internal and external customer support.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Leadership. Provide leadership, management, mentorship, and a cohesive strategy in the direction of the Sales and Support team. Play an important part in the strategic leadership of the Airborne Power business. Assist in the development and implementation of Product Group goals, metrics, plans, budgets and strategies. Be a good cultural fit with the company, and more importantly as a senior member of the Airborne Power and Control leadership team, provide a dynamic and positive leadership perspective to help guide the strategic direction for the business.

  1. Profitably Manage Growth. Manage growth by leading the team which takes new products out of development and into serial production. Expand profit margins by reducing cost, coordinating with supply chain and operations, and looking for areas of waste elimination. Perform contract and price negotiations for follow-on contracts with key aircraft OEM's. The leader of this organization will take seriously their fiduciary responsibilities and be comfortable with weighing both risk and reward. Grow profits, increase yield, and improve quality with the over-arching attitude of doing what is right for the customer.

  1. Capture New Business. Grow the power systems business through trust and integrity, excellent customer relationships, and building a reputation within the industry as the best source of aircraft power systems in our market segment. Will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing strategic Sales and Marketing plans that achieve APC revenue and booking goals. Coordinate sales and marketing efforts across the Astronics Corporation to maximize the benefit for all companies within the Astronics family of companies. Manage the sales process and provide a cohesive message and value proposition to our customers. Lead major new business capture campaigns, negotiations, proposals, and develop key customer relationships.

  1. Customer Support. Expand our reputation of aircraft power systems by building outstanding customer relationships, being a customer advocate, and growing our support infrastructure in line with our revenue growth. Support customers worldwide and be a primary customer focal point for both production and field support, by anticipating and identifying customer needs. Support internal customers (operations, quality and supply chain) with engineering support and cross-functional leadership, to include forecasting customer demand for products to ensure optimized lead times and delivery.

  1. High Performance Organization. Be a positive and inspirational leader to the Sales and Support team. Set expectations, provide resources, and build a team with a strong bias for action and accountability. Encourage cooperation with other parts of the organization, building a highly professional group to manage the growing APC production and customer facing activities. Lead by influence to accomplish cross functional goals. Develop processes and rhythm for efficient completion of a range of tasks required for business capture and production support.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • BS in STEM related major, preferred.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the job requirements and skills typically achieved with a minimum of 12 years of experience with progressive responsibilities
  • 8-10 years formal management experience, preferred
  • Experience in aerospace/aviation, preferred
