Supervisor of Employment Training Services

Description

Under the direction of the Manager of Community Outreach the Supervisor of Career Training Services will assist the Manager with all day-to-day aspects of the training programs including supervision of all staff members, interacting with Clark County School District (CCSD) teachers and administrators, assuring that all jobsite training curricula are implemented and that all students are trained and assessed in compliance with school district requirements. This position will assist the manager with all training programs and implementation of quality outcomes that result in transfers to Opportunity Village service contracts, community placements or cases being opened with the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) or Desert Regional Center (DRC).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  2. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village’s organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of clients and of staff.
  3. Assist in the job development, job coaching, job training and advocacy support for persons in community-based settings, local travel required.
  4. Works closely with all members of the vocational training team, managers and supervisors as well as employers to support each person and to maintain professional relationships with area businesses to introduce individuals to potential employment opportunities.
  5. Monitors each training site program.
  6. Ensures weekly and/or monthly progress reports are completed.
  7. Provide an open line of communication between Manager, CCSD, Voc Rehab, DRC and Opportunity Village.
  8. Assists with In-Service training sessions for the entire JDP staff when school is not is session.
  9. Performs introductory and Touch Points for staff.
  10. Serves as chaperon during Opportunity Village events.
  11. Acts as the liaison between Opportunity Village and parents/guardians, as well as for compliance documentation.
  12. Maintains professional business relationships with all key persons who manage or operate community career training sites
  13. Assists in the awareness and implementation of department and division goals.
  14. Attends meetings, seminars and job fairs.
  15. Assist with compliance to all Federal, State and CCSD regulations, as well as agency policies and operational procedures.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will supervise the following:

  • Job Discovery Student Advocate
  • Job Discovery Training Instructors
  • Other supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Computer literate.
  • Must possess basic math skills (i.e. adding, subtracting, etc.).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Team building skills, able to work well within cross-functional environment
  • Project management/program development skills.
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Special Education or related field or a High School Diploma with three (3) years verifiable work experience as a manager/supervisor in Vocational Rehabilitation or Special Education.
  • Required: Must have experience working with adults and adolescents who have developmental, mental health, learning or physical disabilities.
  • Required: A Nevada Drivers License and an insured vehicle, along with a clean DMV record and must be able to be insured and operate a 15-passenger van.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
