Position Summary:

The Buyer is responsible to buy all maintenance, repair, inventory, and operating supplies for the organization upon receipt of properly authorized requisitions from users or other authorized employees. The MRO Buyer is responsible to obtain goods and services to satisfy reasonable user needs promptly and make purchases in accordance with the approved purchasing policy and procedure manual. Essential Functions:

  1. Communicates and coordinates with all departments to understand needs, anticipate and resolve issues
  2. Maintains and supervises central receiving storeroom areas, performs inventory check-in, distribution, and transfer of inventory, and supplies to all areas
  3. Assists with monthly inventories to report and reduce variances
  4. Check requisitions for completeness and clarity. Obtain necessary missing information where required
  5. Diplomatically instruct requisitioners or specifiers on what data is necessary to obtain correct product
  6. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor
  7. Understands departmental standards, guidelines and objectives and maintains other administrative processes to create an efficient organization as well as corporate and resort specific policies and procedures
  8. Corresponds with all incoming and outgoing UPS and Fed-Ex mail and assists with weekly pick-ups at area vendors if/as needed
  9. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions
  10. Maintain and enhance a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility
  11. Effective communication skills with all levels of employees, guests and all other outside contacts
  12. Assists with computer and physical receiving processes
  13. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Edgewood Tahoe guests always
  14. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of self or others
  15. Drive performance in accordance with the law and Edgewood Tahoe Resort policies
  16. Keep the Director of Purchasing informed of all activities or problems and submit reports as requested by management
  17. The MRO Buyer is responsible to know and keep up to date on the legal requirements of business contracts and to use such knowledge to protect the interest of the organization
Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • Two years of formal purchasing experience required
  • Two years of receiving and dock experience required
  • Knowledge of computer based receiving systems
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and guest service skills required
  • Ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations
  • Two years’ experience at a Hotel/resort preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills needed
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and report data on and generated by computer required
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights
