Description

Astronics-PECO, located in picturesque Clackamas, Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood, designs, certifies, manufactures, and sells a wide range of products to commercial, government, and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe, and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes, helicopters, and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial, government, and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must, such as the hospitality industry, commercial cooking, and other critical applications.

We are looking for a skilled Production Supervisor to join our dynamic team.

 

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to monitor and direct hourly personnel in the manufacturing of a defined product line or business segment within the company’s manufacturing group. This includes ensuring processes and methods are in accordance with product specifications, quality standards and schedule requirements.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following duties and others as assigned.

  • Plans, organizes and controls work groups to meet production schedules.
  • Leads and motivates employees to consistently meet or exceed production numbers.
  • Orients new employees in Company policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Develops and delivers new and ongoing training for all employees as needed.
  • Monitors work performance, quality, and output. Takes corrective and preventive action as necessary.
  • Participates in the hiring process, including candidate evaluation, interviewing and selection.
  • Monitors operating supply levels and initiates orders as necessary.
  • Reviews routings, work instructions, etc. for accuracy and works with Manufacturing Engineers to make corrections.
  • Manages employee attendance and reviews and approves time off requests.
  • Monitors safe work practices and provides direction to employees. Takes preventive action to ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Monitors production processes to ensure established controls are met.
  • Recommends process / fixtures improvements.
  • Works with MEs on process / fixture improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinates and monitors 5S activities and practices.
  • Counsels employees and works with HR to implement formal discipline as required.
  • Monitors staffing levels and schedules overtime. Recommends staffing level adjustments when appropriate.
  • Attends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly.
  • Performs other work duties as assigned.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and this position may be responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Company’s overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job directly supervises as many as sixty non-exempt, unionized, production workers.

Position Requirements

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below each are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability.   • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, production management or engineering preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, including three to five years as a supervisor, production lead or working foreman.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Strong project supervisory skills.
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-month time span.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office applications.
