Inspectors are responsible for a wide variety of quality inspections on aerospace parts and assemblies, and assure compliance to a variety of dimensional and contractual requirements of products with complex geometry and configurations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In-process audits, receiving, in-process and final inspection reviews and may include customer presentations.
Validate the physical characteristics as well as processing requirements and the data package requirements imposed by customers.
Inspect dimensions and assembly of various electronic and fabricated products using measuring instruments and devices, such as surface plate, height gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
Inspect products for defects, poor workmanship and/or document discrepancies.
Review production documentation, vendor certifications and test reports for product compliance with quality standards or customer requirements.
Approve or reject parts, assemblies, and materials, and prepares inspection reports.
Carries out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met.
May draft procedures and assist with validating or troubleshooting testing methods, including assays.
May apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.
Participate on AS9100 Audit Team.
Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance with legal requirements, and shipping and packing facilities for conformity to specified standards.
Inspect circuit card and other assemblies for compliance to IPC-610, J-STD-001 and customer specifications.
Performs 'set up' inspections on processes, performs 1st piece inspections and sampling inspections on products immediately following critical processes. Also conducts 1st article inspection as required.
Examines company's records to secure such information as size and weight of product and results of quality tests.
Provides training and support to other inspectors, assemblers, and other personnel.
Ensures products are processed in accordance with Extant policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required. Minimum five years direct industry experience preferred.
Experience with MRP systems, MS Office Products and Epicor a plus.
Knowledge of FAA Regulations preferred.
Ability to work well on a team and develop trust among coworkers.
Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements preferred.
Willingness to work overtime to support business needs required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have excellent manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination, able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and will at times be required to work with some chemical and bonding agents.
