Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administrative, compliance-oriented, and assisting in developing strategy for department and company. He/She is tasked with streamlining, automating, and increasing self-service of HR related needs of internal customers.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

This job description does not imply that these are the only duties performed.   • Assist and support management and the leadership team with handling and resolving Human Resources issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
  • Addressing any employee relations.
  • Maintains headcount, turnover, overtime, performance reviews, and workers’ compensation reports to Finance and HR team.
  • Assist with worker’s compensation claims as needed and request by HR Manager.
  • Manage employee leaves (ie – FMLA, STD and PFL), worker’s compensation claims, and unemployment claims
  • Administer and manage payrolls, conduct all activities for the processing of payroll, including adjustments, deductions, rate changes, maintains benefit time, audits and reports.
  • Coordinate payment of bonuses and other special payments for payroll processing.
  • Assist with audit request.
  • Manage processing of 401K contributions, loan activity, and compliance of the plan.
  • Administer company benefits. Organize and lead annual open enrollment process.
  • Processes employee onboarding, status changes, terminations and process required cobra notifications.
  • Work with management to set long-term staffing goals and strategies.
  • Performance management and improvement of system.
  • Assist with interviews, hiring, recruiting, and participating in career fairs.
  • Support tracking for affirmative Action Plan, including maintaining log, reviewing and dispositioning application.
  • Reconciling the monthly benefit statements.
  • Administer FAA Drug Free Work Place programs in conjunction with the Quality department.
  • Assist with the annual Employee Stock Purchase Plan process.
  • Work with HR team on various projects. Serves as a project lead for system enhancements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities.
  • Help oversee wellness program.
  • Work towards continuously improving the automation of HR practices.
  • Modify and improve our onboarding by automating the process through ADP.
  • Participated in company-wide programs and initiatives (salary reviews, workforce planning, and organizational change).
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors/Associates degree required, in human resources or business a plus.
  • At least 2 years previous experience with processing payroll required, ADP preferred.
  • Minimum of three years working in Human Resources, a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Prior recruiting experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi task while maintaining the highest level of customer service and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, and COBRA.
  • Extremely detailed oriented, and accurate with numbers.
  • PHR certified preferred.

Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Does not have any supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions within the organization.

Competently use Microsoft products, have knowledge of material planning system, and general computer skills.

Reasoning Ability

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to identify problems, deal with them, and work towards a solution.

Physical Demands *

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to pull handles and push buttons. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
