Description

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, plans, designs, and oversees construction of new and existing park facilities. Prepares and manages bid documents according to Wyoming State statutes.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepares site and conceptual master plans for parks, recreation facilities, and other public sites and facilities within Teton County; prepares construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for construction projects.
  • Manages construction projects and schedules to ensure that projects are built according to construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Organizes bid documents and specifications for all new equipment and vehicles purchased through the Parks and Recreation Department’s capital projects; manages bidding process; issues addendums and prepares staff reports recommending approval of certain contract services or purchases as needed.
  • Completes various administrative tasks including but not limited to staff meetings; managing budgets, and reviewing and paying bills and invoices.
  • Arranges public meetings; presents plans for parks, pathways, and public facilities within Teton County while supporting public engagement.
  • Reviews development plans and provides feedback as requested by the Town of Jackson and/or Teton County planning staff.
  • Supports the relationship between Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field; AND four years of experience in landscape architecture or park planning; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Registered Wyoming Landscape Architect.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (NPSI)

Required Knowledge of:

  • Methods and techniques involved in landscape construction and parks and recreation planning.
  • Contract preparation and administration.
  • Appropriate plant material used for specific projects and site conditions.
  • Principles and practices of landscape construction and detailing.

Required Skills in:

  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software and some specialized software such as AutoCAD.
  • Assessing, prioritizing and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
  • Preparing, reading, and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Managing and implementing project budgets.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as outdoors at various construction sites; may be exposed to dangerous tools and equipment. Safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.

Hiring Range $62,705 - $69,214 per year
