Description

Reports to: Donor Relations Manager 

 

Second Harvest enjoys strong community support, receiving thousands of donations annually.  The Data Entry and Research Coordinator, under the guidance of the Donor Relations Manager, is responsible for providing clerical support to the Development & Marketing team, maintaining the donor database, entering and coding gifts, and generating gift acknowledgement letters. This position will also help with donor research, major donor stewardship and events. 

 

Principal Duties: 

  • Enter and code donations in Second Harvest’s CRM (Giveffect) and check to ensure accuracy.  
  • Manage/update all donor information, spousal records, credit card information and contact information in CRM. 
  • Maintain inventory of company letterhead and envelopes. 
  • Provide donor research and information to CEO, COO, CDO, CPO, Donor Relations Manager and other Development & Marketing team members. 
  • Create and print daily thank you letters to be distributed to donors. 
  • Respond to information request from donors and team members. 
  • Prepare relevant reports as needed. 
  • Handling additional duties, as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education, Training & Experience  

Successful candidates for this position will have superior attention to detail, be comfortable working in a relational database and have strong writing skills. S/he will have at least one year(s) of data entry or related office experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Preferred: S/he will have some experience with on-line donor research.  

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient typing and transcription skills. 
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word) and donor software tracking programs. 
  • Excellent writing and communications skills; including spelling, punctuation, correspondence and formatting. 
  • Comfort with relational database record entry and management.  
  • Report writing and analysis abilities. 
  • Ability to work to time constraints. 
  • Ability to concentrate for lengthy periods and perform accurately with adequate speed.  

 

 
Position Requirements

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must have access to a motor vehicle, as well as valid auto insurance coverage, for occasional driving on the job. 
  • Must have valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record, as documented by a current MVR (will be obtained by the Food Bank’s insurance carrier). 
  • It is the responsibility of all SHFB personnel to participate in our Food Safety/Food Defense programs. 
  • In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Second Harvest is considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties. 

 

 

BENEFITS: For the employee: free dental and vision insurance (shared cost for dependents). Free life, long-term care, long-term disability, and AD&D insurances. Shared cost medical insurance: Kaiser and Blue Shield. Eligibility begins on the first day of month following 30 days of employment (i.e. if you are hired June 20th, you are eligible starting August 1st). This benefit package is valued at an average of over ten thousand dollars a year. 

First year: 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 10 holidays. 

403(b) Retirement Plan: Second Harvest matches employee contributions up to an annual cap.

JOB DETAILS: This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position with a salary range of $18-22/hour, DOE. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
