Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a multi-level role within the assembly function of the Plant. The primary function of this role is to build Catheters & Saye Screws as part of the Symmetry Surgical instrument offering. This is a critical function that requires attention to detail, assembly of small parts, a 'quality' orientation and adherence to governing policies and procedures. The Assembler must follow specific assembly instructions without variation and develop a high rate of repeatability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work independently and/or in a team setting supporting the Symmetry Surgical facility.
  • Assemble and shape catheters under a microscope using repeatable processes to ensure product quality.
  • Receive raw materials, cut tubing to proper length, shape catheter components according to specifications, glue component parts together, and verify quality specifications.
  • Read and follow written instructions pertaining to part assembly.
  • Inspect each part for detail and mechanical defects and re-work under the microscope when necessary to obtain a zero-defect target.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail; verify and sign manufacturing records.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance to meet or exceed identified standards; notify Quality Assurance when issues that affect product quality arise.
  • Perform quality testing and use gauges to measure requirements at/of each work station.
  • Use hand tools in light assembly processes with a focus on safety.
  • Operate machinery (grinding/cutting/drilling/heating/dispensers/ovens/etc.) for each procedure.
  • Follow Lean manufacturing processes to embrace continual process improvement.
  • Complete work order at each operation verifying raw materials used, final quantity and process being completed at the work station by signing the paperwork.
  • Clean work area daily and keep work area organized.
  • Wear protective equipment where required
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalency.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Small piece assembly in manufacturing of medical, automotive, etc.
  • Medical instruments manufacturing is desirable
  • White or Clean room experience is highly desirable
  • Light manufacturing and bench work experience is desirable
  • Manual microscope experience highly desirable
  • Good hand eye coordination.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed written procedures.
  • Experience with small hand tools and machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand simple drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to take and read measurements.
  • Attention to detail; must verify and sign manufacturing records.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to team lift.
