Description

George School, a co-ed, 9-12, Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, Bucks County PA, seeks a Director of Library Services beginning August 2021.

Position requirements: Plans, supervises, and directs library services, programs, operations, and personnel of the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library, and provides leadership in the development of the strategic plan for the George School Archive. The Director of Library Services stays informed about current educational, technological, and library trends; evaluates the informational needs of the community; and follows professional standards for the selection of materials and digital resources; Collaborates with faculty to provide information literacy instruction and curated resources to support the curriculum; fosters an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are reflected in policy and practice to ensure that all community members have equitable access to services and resources. The Director of Library Services serves as a member of Department Heads and works closely with the Associate Head of School, administrators, other Department Heads, faculty, other members of the library staff, students, and families; engages with professional development opportunities; and participates with national and local professional organizations. Potential to teach one section of a class is preferred.

 
Position Requirements

A successful candidate will have an ALA accredited master’s degree in Library/Information Science and have experience in a school setting; have the ability to work with a diverse student population; have a commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community; and a style consistent with Quaker values are also important. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the energy to thrive within a fast-paced work environment, and must possess a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, and the ability to work collaboratively.
