General Summary

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to join our expanding Orlando based team.  The individual will interface with Engineering and IT to define, architect, and implement software quality processes and automated testing across the organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop test strategies and detailed test plans and test architectures by:
  • Reviewing product specifications
  • Reviewing customer requirements
  • Evaluating software run time behavior
  • Analyzing source code and API surfaces
  • Analyzing system components and their interaction with software
  • Implement automated tests in accordance with test plans and strategies
  • Recommend test automation frameworks and infrastructure
  • Test for API backward compatibility breaks and forward compatibility risks
  • Review defects that escaped to the field to learn how they could have been prevented or detected.  Update tests appropriately.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues
  • Write unit and integration tests for software applications
  • Interact with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements
  • Participate in software estimation, planning, and requirements elicitation
  • Support cybersecurity certification and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and other quality compliance initiatives
  • Contribute to DevOps efforts
  • Participate in software code reviews
  • Generate test reports
  • Offer suggestions for process improvement
  • Collaborate and share experience and knowledge with peers
  • Work effectively in a cross functional team environment
 
Position Requirements

Job Specifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the full software development life cycle, architectures, and modern software development techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Windows API and Windows OS configuration
  • Expertise with a scripting language such as PowerShell or Python
  • Experience developing tests and test plans for
  • Network based APIs
  • C and .Net DLL based APIs
  • Familiarity with CI / CD systems
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity considerations in SQA
  • Experience writing test plans for GUI applications
  • Experience with load, stress, and performance testing tools
  • Experience working with virtual machines and/or Docker
  • Competency with HTML, CSS, JS
  • Competency with multi-threaded and asynchronous programming techniques
  • Ability to debug and document complex software issues
  • Comfortable working with Visual Studio 2012 to 2019
  • Able to read and comprehend C#, VB, C, and C++ code
  • Knowledge of common design patterns and libraries
  • Ability to comprehend software designs depicted in UML
  • Competency collaborating with others to accomplish a common goal
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience working with Linux
  • Knowledge of UX principles
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies and platforms
  • Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or TestStand

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an SQA role.
  • 2+ years’ experience with C# and .Net
