The Role

The DevOps Engineer is an experienced, member of the Torch Engineering team responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining successful and solutions for Torch SaaS Platform. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for Cloud and Multi-Cloud platform SaaS offerings. This includes the entire solution lifecycle from ideation and design through technical configuration and deployment. And will deliver leadership and direction through technical briefings/roadmaps, service and solution workshops, and strategy ideation.

DevOps Engineer at Torch.AI will strive to innovate, have a passion for learning and will be expected to evolve with current technology trends. They will possess a growth mindset, guiding our organization to leverage the cloud to deliver services with incredible speed, consistency, and availability. Will work with Torch’s technical leads to assist with the development of both current and future architects.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. An advanced/relative degree is preferred.

Will possess a minimum of 3-year experience in maintaining large, scalable and complex microservices architectures. The candidate should enjoy collaborating in a team structure, be willing to R&D then advocate for the best solution and be able to work independently at times with a lack of detailed requirements.???


  • Build and maintain scalable and performant production infrastructure, improving and ensuring reliability across our systems
  • Troubleshoot and debug infrastructure issues
  • Assist in remediating audit and compliance findings (SOC2, ISO, FedRAMP, FICAM)
  • Design, implement and manage access to cloud systems/software using best practices IAM, RBAC and Identity methodologies.
  • Provide leadership and maintenance for all CICD subsystems across all SDLC environments.
  • Create and develop client solutions that meet business and technology requirements and deliver successful outcomes that supersede client expectations regarding cost, scope, and time.
  • Create technical proposals, strategic project documentation and related deliverables, technology/solution whitepapers, etc.
  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services from conception, to inception, including system design consulting, and capacity planning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of microservices architecture and implementation features across clouds (Pods, Services, Ingress, Service Mesh, Operator Pattern, AWS, Azure and GCP)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps toolchains and processes.
  • Contribute to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks.
Position Requirements


  • Must be available to work as a direct hire employee of Torch.AI.  No C2C candidates at this time.  
  • Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) tools and deployment patterns such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Cloudformation, Resource Manager, etc.
  • Experience with microservices architecture design, containerization build strategies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Previous experience coding in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript, C++, Bash or Java.
  • Experience with Linux and application performance tuning, hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Some database management experience is required.
  • Experience managing and implementing managed services in AWS such as VPC, EC2, ECR, EKS, RDS, S3 and Route 53. Experience with Azure and/or GCP equivalents a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of DevSecOps deployment and management principles through CICD.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to attain one.
  • Self-starter that enjoys teamwork but also can function independently without supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a joyful problem solution provider that uses both experience and imagination to solve problems.
  • An infectious, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and strong gritty work ethic.
  • Cloud certification required (AWS preferred).


  • Thorough understanding of cloud governance, cloud IAM, cloud cost management and how it interacts with identity management systems including AWS Organizations and Azure Active Directory.
  • Expert level configuration, deployment, networking, management knowledge with Kubernetes and related technologies like Service Mesh and Kubernetes Operators.
  • Experience with data systems such as RDBMS (Postgresql), GraphDB (Neo4J or ArangoDB), NoSQL DB (ELK stack), Message Queue (RabbitMQ or Kafka).
  • Experience with distributed microservice design, architecture, scaling and disaster recovery.
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD Pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Experience vetting, implementing, and managing Identity Providers, Oauth, OpenID Connect and SAML.
  • Experience successfully driving scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
  • Experience with SRE Concepts, Chaos Engineering, Mean Time to Detect (MTTD), and Mean Time to Restore (MTTR)
  • Experience with security compliance programs such as FedRAMP, NIST, HiTrust and CMMC.
