Description

Job Title: Software Engineer Functional Area: Engineering

Location: Concord, MA Job Code: Entry-level, Engineering

Reports to: Sr. VP SW Architecture & Eng. FLSA status: Exempt

Avidyne Corporation is leveraging its market-leader position in the design and manufacturing of integrated avionics systems to develop cutting-edge technology for emerging electric vertical takeoff and lift aircraft, autonomous air cargo delivery and simplified operation vehicles. We have a 27-year history of developing a full line of communication, navigation, flight displays, surveillance, and flight control systems.

 

Position Summary:

Avidyne is seeking Software Engineers that have experience or interest in developing the next generation of aviation products and features. We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic engineers that have experience or interest in one of more of the following technical areas:

  • Safety-critical software development
  • Operating System development
  • Experience with developing and testing software in real-time embedded systems
  • Experience developing and testing control systems, device drivers and other embedded software systems.
  • Experience with user interface design.
  • Experience with human-machine interface (HMI) systems
  • Experience developing and/or using automated test tools

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external customers to deliver requested software features.
  • Design, develop and debug complex software systems.
  • Conduct software verification activities.
  • Work on extending Avidyne’s simulation and test capabilities.
  • Develop and enhance tools to track and automate software development activities.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal and written communication (including technical documentation).
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about solving problems.
  • Adaptable and flexible with moving deadlines, requirements, and changing focus.

 

Desired Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering.
  • Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related fields.
  • Experience with embedded systems.
  • Strong software development skills, particularly in C/C++ .
  • Experience with control systems.
  • Experience using source control system(s).
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink.

 

Other Desirable Experience:

  • Avionics or aviation background or interest.
  • Experience with DO-178B and/or DO-178C or similar safety critical development process.
