Rapidly expanding NYC automotive dealership platform is seeking a Controller/Assistant Controlle/Office Managerto manage the financial functions of the group's high-volume Kia dealership in Yonkers. Respect Auto Group currently has 3 locations, with the goal of growing to 10+ locations through M&A activity and open points. Yonker Kia is the group's highest-grossing store and we need an experienced Controller or Assistant Controller to help manage its accounting functions.
Key responsibilities of the Controller will include:
Member of Senior Management team reporting to Executive team, including CFO and Senior VP of Finance
Day-to-day hands-on management of individual store financial conditions
Prepare a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within manufacturer's format and time frame.
Ensure that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
Interpret the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and inform Executive team of developing trends.
Participate in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
Maintain an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.
Direct assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.
Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.
Stay abreast of tax code revisions and advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.
Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records etc.
Manage the dealership computer system to maximize utilization.
Administer a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.
Meet with dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals.
Prepare and processes all insurance claims.
Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
Ensures that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervises the preparation of all information for the CPA to minimize audit or review costs.
Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting.
Attend managers meetings.
Oversee accounting team, including accounts payable clerks and office manager, as well as DMV/titling team

Requirements:
1+ years of experience as a Controller/ Assistant Controller in retail automotive
Experience with DealerTrack software strongly preferred (though not required)
CPA background a plus
Experience managing teams
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
