JOB SUMMARY:

We are growing our Massage Therapist team at the YWCA Minneapolis. Our team of Massage Therapists will ensure all massage, wellness and treatment standards are met to deliver a effective and safe experience.

Our ideal candidate has the vision, dedication, and desire to build a clientele. This candidate will provide excellent daily experiences for members, with the understanding and appreciation to maintain a happy collaborative work environment while promoting our mission.

The Massage Therapist will report directly to the Assistant General Manager (AGM) and receive support from the Health and Wellness Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute safe and effective massage services
  • Responsible for day-to-day cleanliness of treatment rooms and treatment areas
  • Continuous upkeep of treatment areas in reference to inventory, spa linens, and all operating supplies needed in the massage and service area
  • Responsible for accurate handling of pre and post member treatment intake forms
  • Attend regular team department meetings
  • Address all member issues and ensure feedback is communicated to AGM
  • Maintain and communicate about your agreed upon schedule in a timely manner
  • Works well with different personalities and departments
  • Promote Massage services through demos, special events, chair massage, and educating members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the AGM
  • Adhere to service standards as provided by YWCA Minneapolis
  • Ability to be adaptable and accountable for all actions

 

Skills

  • Experience in clinical, spa, or hospitality environment preferred
  • Critical Thinking – uses logic and reasoning to find solutions, conclusions and approaches to challenges
  • Decision Making – uses good judgement to make well thought out decisions, in an appropriate amount of time
  • Speaking and Writing – communicates in the most professional and effective manner
  • Active Listening – gives full attention when others are speaking, doesn’t interrupt, takes time to understand and asks appropriate questions before responding
  • Time Management – efficiently manages one’s own time, and the time of others
  • Computer literate – is able to work confidently with Word, Excel and wellness-related software programs
  • Physical demands – Sitting, Standing, Lifting, using stairs, and reaching for objects in different places

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Lead Massage Therapist who reports to the Fitness Program Manager. The incumbent will interact with the Membership Department, members and guests.

 

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Provide a current Minnesota Massage Therapy or National Certification
  • Proficient in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and Chair massage
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • If candidate has current certifications in other modalities or fitness areas, we would love to offer more opportunities
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external customers

 

Preferred:

  • 6 months plus experience in a professional setting
  • Experience with varied massage techniques
  • Computer proficiency and wiling to learn
  • Continued education with professional affiliations, training, and certification
  • Bilingual language in Spanish, Somali, Hmong or Arabic - receive a $1 differential pay increase

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Understand and use proper body mechanics
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Requires standing on your feet for extended periods of time

COMPENSATION: Range: $24.56-$30.70 per hour
