POSITION SUMMARY: The Training Specialist is responsible for the delivery of Midwest Eye Consultants’ training and development programs to ensure ideal performance of staff and delivery of exceptional patient care.

REPORTS TO: Primary Care Director

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and/or conduct initial Boot Camp basic training to New Hires, following the guidelines established on the training matrix and training manual(s).
  • Promote a learning culture with the organization.
  • Perform practicum assessments on staff at key points in their training.
  • Follow up on new hire assessments.
  • Support the PMT with development and delivery of special educational events for staff.
  • Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Director.
  • Support the Office Managers in providing continual training of staff as requested.
  • Assist with efficiency projects, as needed.
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate.
  • Experience working in the fields of optometry or ophthalmology, and in the area specific to specialty is required (clinic, optical, or business office).
  • Certification in optometric field is preferred.
  • Training experience is preferred.

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in EHR software.
  • Must meet Competency Level One (1) requirement in area of specialty (clinic, optical, or business office).
  • Ability to communicate effectively through excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong detail oriented and organizational skills.
  • Strong social skills.
  • Ability to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational courses.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to motivate and promote a team environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Positive, professional representation of MWEC, the training department, and materials.
  • Available to work flexible schedule and additional hours as required.
