Job Summary

This nursing position is responsible for managing and participating in Yellowhawk’s Covid (SARS-CoV-2) testing clinic. This includes performing enhanced symptoms screenings established by CTUIR and Yellowawk’s health initiative and prevention strategy, sample collection, contact tracing of positive cases within the Yellowhawk service area, arranging advanced healthcare if needed, professionally documenting encounter, develop improvement processes, telephone triage and scheduling. The RN is expected to adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality and provide patient education related to communicable diseases. It is expected RN will be proficient in donning and doffing of provided personal protective equipment (PPE). The RN will promote and assist patient health care needs by completing the nursing process; be knowledgeable of Covid 19 virus and updates, collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide support to patients and their families; and supervision of assigned team members. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements, policies and relevant laws.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assures quality of care by adhering to and documenting subjective and objective data, nursing interventions, and therapeutic standards.
  2. Follows Yellowhawk’s and nursing philosophies, and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  3. Screens patients using nursing triage skills, obtains preliminary health history, and provides nursing intervention services.
  4. Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
  5. Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals by answering questions, and teaching patient and their family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  6. Refers patients to other service departments in accordance with routines. Functioning under established routines and medical protocols, RN assesses need for x-rays, laboratory tests, outside diagnostic procedures, and consultation services.
  7. Provides and assists in the provision of emergency treatment.
  8. Assist in managing schedules to meet patient needs and provider efficiency.
  9. Operates and ensures maintenance of a variety of medical and office equipment.
  10. Shares responsibilities for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment, upkeep of the nursing service area, and ensuring a safe environment.
  11. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams and communicates information by; responding to requests, building rapport; and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  12. Fulfills many significant functions to ensure quality patient care, from caring of patients to filling out appropriate forms.
  13. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through approved educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and professional societies.
  14. Nursing procedures: Collecting swab samples.
  15. Phone and patient triage.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

1. Graduation from an accredited technical school of nursing; ADN required.

2. Current license as a Registered Nurse in State of Oregon.

3. Current BLS certification

4. Ability to communicate positively and effectively through verbal interactions and in writing.

5. Submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.

6. Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

7. Submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of ambulatory care nursing experience. Emergency or urgent care experience preferred. One-year experience and new graduate nursing student experience may be considered with remarkable applicants.

2. Knowledge of history, culture and health needs of Native American communities preferred.
