The Market Sector Leader is a managing principal responsible for all architecture and engineering work within the market in collaboration with other market sectors. This leader develops client relationships and nurtures professional relationships with integrated team members. Market responsibilities include: client relationship management, client and project pursuits, project profit goals, and fee and contract negotiations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Oversight: Direct oversight of market sector establishing goals, achieving objectives, and positioning ERDMAN for growth and profitability. Participates in creating and positioning ERDMAN for growth and market expansion, with team members and clients.

  • Financial Results: In conjunction with other Senior Leaders, realization of profits compatible with ERDMAN’s and clients’ interests.

  • Operations Controls: Oversees and controls operations and activities of the market sector, including, client relationships, project commitments, resource planning, and new business development.

  • Constructive Leadership: Develops and uses constructive styles of leadership to achieve results, innovation, growth, and fulfilment of team members. Works with team members to establish clear goals and expectations, provides ongoing feedback,?develops skills and knowledge of?team members, and rewards people for their behavior and results.

Position Requirements

  • Architecture / Engineering: The knowledge to plan, design, manage, and review construction, development, or manipulation of a physical environment for practical or creative objectives, such as buildings, landscapes, and/or other physical property.
  • Architectural Innovation & Design: The process of using multiple perspectives to design, and incorporate aesthetic qualities that significantly increase client satisfaction by turning independent thoughts into designs, drawings and models creating an outstanding solution for the client.
  • Business Acumen: The knowledge to use keen business skills and entrepreneurial spirit by acting as a change agent with proven superior business judgment resulting in increasing revenues and margins, improving productivity, and reducing costs.
  • Financial Responsibility: Understands the financial obligations of the organization and is accountable for all financial aspects of the business operation within area of responsibility. Manages organizational resources to maximize return on assets and investments. Seeks to improve the financial viability of the overall organization. Takes prudent risks and does what is necessary to improve the organization's financial picture while maintaining alignment with the company vision, mission and values.
  • Resource Management & Planning: Planning, monitoring, and controlling projects through optimum use of talent, budget, time, and materials, including contributing to operational and tactical plans by following a systematic process of documenting objectives and decisions.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivating ERDMAN clients and existing relationships to expand references, referrals, and revenue.
  • Industry Knowledge: Aware of and understands practices, technologies, products/services, events, trends, and regulatory issues that have impact on the healthcare industry, as well as, other related services offered by ERDMAN.

Education: Accredited degree in Architecture; Master’s degree preferred.

Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Licensed architect
  • NCARB preferred
  • LEED certification preferred
  • EDAC certification preferred

Relevant Experience & Training:

  • 15-20 years’ experience managing healthcare projects.
  • 15-20 years’ team leadership experience.
  • Acts as the Architect of Record pertaining to the practice of architecture in accordance with various state laws, and stamps and certifies architectural construction documents?or?represents ERDMAN as a Professional Architect on state Certificates of Authorization and Architect of Record.?
  • Experience with oncology preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Project management, resource management, and financial software proficiency.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a professional, creative, open office environment with business casual attire. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours and will average 2,300 hours per year. Great flexibility in schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines.
  • 20% national travel required.
