Description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Program Services, the AmeriCorps Manager will assist with the supervision of expanded program offerings for OV clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, accomplished within the AmeriCorps Program. The incumbent will research and establish best practices for program provision, and maintain infrastructure to support AmeriCorps Members and the program. They are specifically responsible for the continued development and supervision of the AmeriCorps program, training and development of AmeriCorps members, building operational readiness to maintain an AmeriCorps program, and submission of the competitive grant annually.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  2. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village’s organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of individuals served and of staff. 
  3. Supervise, support, and organize the following for an AmeriCorps program:
    • program design
    • staffing structure
    • partnership development
    • AmeriCorps member support, development, and engagement
    • compliance and accountability
  4. Network and maintain professional positive relationships with community referral sources. 
  5. Coordinate the evaluation process, including monthly/quarterly/annual reports as directed by the grant.
  6. Prepare the funding application for the annual AmeriCorps operational grant.
  7. Research service providers, other available program offerings, and national studies to establish proof of best practice.
  8. Answer and respond to telephone calls and e-mails.
  9. Attend organizational meetings when required and act as a liaison for Opportunity Village and community programs and organizations.
  10. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) within 24 hours as mandated by state law.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position will supervise the following:

  • AmeriCorps Members
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must possess basic math skills (i.e. adding, subtracting, etc).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentially.
  • Ability work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to set priorities, and multi-task.
  • Ability to work as a team player, and possess good customer service skills.
  • Good computer skills including Word and Excel software knowledge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year verifiable work experience in a clerical/administrative role.
  • Required: One (1) year of verifiable work experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or related field.
  • Required: One – three years’ work experience in content development such as grant writing experience or curriculum development.
  • Required: A valid clean Nevada Driver’s License and an insured vehicle.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degrees in English, Communication, or related field.
  • Preferred: Project management experience.

  • Ability to determine proper levels or supports and disability needs of individuals.
  • Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files
