JOB SUMMARY

The Manager of QA - New Product Introduction (NPI) oversees the quality assurance for new development programs. Works with cross-functional managers to resolve issues and improve our systems and processes. Manages a team of Quality Engineers assigned to new development programs. Manages internal regulatory matters and our company processes that meet those requirements.  **This position poses a unique learning opportunity.  This Manager will be mentored by the Director of Quality in Software Quality Assurance and eventually manage software quality function for the organization.**

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operations and Compliance:

  • Understands industry standards associated with aerospace product development (e.g. DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A) and the role of the QA in these standards to be able to mentor engineers fulfilling these roles.
  • Manages product quality and reliability issues for new development programs by providing a lead role and managing problem resolution.
  • Oversees and manages internal regulatory processes. Provides a lead role in resolving regulatory issues.
  • Contributes in the internal and external product and system quality audits.
  • Assists in the review of proposals and contracts for new programs.

Continuous Improvement - Systems and Process:

  • Serves as a change agent for the QA organization by identifying, prioritizing, managing, and executing continuous improvement projects. Builds collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Actively contributes in the department Strategic Planning Process and Initiatives.

People Management:

  • Manages employee development and training requirements to promote a motivated and skilled QA department.
  • Anticipates gaps in the quality department to be able to support new products. Leads the group in addressing said gaps by developing the systems and skills required, and/or acquiring the necessary tools.
  • Administrative tasks associated with people management (timecard approvals, program assignments, etc.).
  • Attends management training.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related major.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the job requirements and skills typically achieved with 7 years of experience within a Quality Engineering or Software Quality Engineering role with progressive responsibilities and scope to include 2 years of coaching and mentoring.
  • 1 year of formal management experience, preferred.
  • Product Development experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in learning complex subject matters.

  • Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
