FAMILY SERVICE ASSOCIATE

           

Department: Early Childhood Services                                                                                             

Responsible to: PFCE Coordinator                                                                             

Status: Hourly Pay Rate $14.25 with BA                                                                                                                                                                               

 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of services to families enrolled in Early Childhood Services Program as required by the Head Start Performance Standards and state and federal mandates.
  • Ensure quality program service delivery.
  • Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Coordinate Family Partnership Agreements, Family Goals Sheet and other tools to provide individualized services to families.
  • Coordinate and conduct application and enrollment visits and assure the proper documentation for eligibility.
  • Provide assistance to families to facilitate their participation in parent education opportunities, workshops, support groups, family plans and other opportunities.
  • Support the family by indentifying resources which will assist them in meeting documented needs or requests.
  • Make all efforts to assure the safety and well-being of all program participants.
  • Complete home visits to meet program needs.
  • Assist in recruitment to ensure that as many families as possible are provided with Early Childhood Services.
  • Attend community events and meetings as needed to support the agency programs, including evening and weekend events/meetings.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, and other training options as identified and approved by supervisors.
  • Complete necessary program documentation and record keeping in a neat & timely manner, using an approved system.
  • Assist teaching staff with child files follow-ups (e.g. attendance, health/vision/hearing screenings).
  • Responsible for organization and ongoing monitoring of child’s file.
  • Data entry into program data bases as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in an Early Childhood Development or Family Studies/Social Work field or related.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with young children and their families preferred.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed, multitasked, able to coordinate the completion of assigned tasks, and be willing to accept new challenges.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have Proficient Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and pass State Police criminal clearance check and MMCAA’s “Insurance Carriers” driving record review.
  • Successfully complete Criminal History and DHS clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested at any time during employment.
  • Must be physically capable of performing CPR and first aid (with appropriate training).
  • Shall provide written report by a physician stating their physical capability and freedom from communicable tuberculosis.
  • The job duties require a working cell phone for accessibility to supervisors, clients, or co-workers or to enhance personal safety while away from the office location.
  • Must comply with Agency smoke free and drug free policies.
  • Must understand the importance of daily attendance.

The candidate will also have to successfully complete Criminal History and DHS clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested at any time during employment.
