This position can be worked remote. This is a direct, full-time position supporting EHS and our government client.

Position Summary:

Eagle Harbor Solutions, a KGS company, is seeking a Technical Writer who will provide strategic business analysis services to DOI Bureau of Reclamation business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of customer's business strategy, processes, services, roadmap, and the context in which the business operates. This role will be key to understanding the documenting capabilities needed to address business challenges.

We are actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated technical/ITSM writer to support writing technical documentation supporting both operational and business development teams including but not limited to proposals, test plans, bases of estimate, deployment plans, operator manuals and service continuity plans. This individual must be proficient in various computer software tools, be efficient, and must be willing to work in an environment that is fast paced with set, sometimes short, delivery schedules. This person will either have to generate technical documentation by researching engineering data that may come in the form of engineering prints, proposals, or changes in design; and develop assembly, and potentially, troubleshooting, operator and maintenance manuals utilizing internal or external source material. Candidates must possess working knowledge of ITSM processes and tools

Responsibilities:

  • Author technical documentation from source material gathered from engineering resources and/or develops operator and maintenance manuals. 
  • Interfaces with engineers, technical writers, product specialists and technicians. 
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, and detailed engineering specifications. 
  • Explain complex information in a clear and concise manner 
  • Innate ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and graphics 
  • Obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and system documentation requirements 
  • Propose innovative approaches to documentation 
  • Create documentation that follows standard industry formats 
  • Design and establish style guidelines and standards for texts and graphics that meet the need of the program and company 
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of content style and ensure applicable standards are met 
  • Review, revise, and modify documents prepared by others 
  • Specifically related to ITSM: 
  • Develop technical services basis of estimate to deliver tailored ITSM solutions.
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • ITSM Plan development, drafting and editing. 
  • MS Office, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint experience required. 
  • Awareness of industry standards ASME, ANSI, TIA, etc. required. 
  • Awareness of government standards-NIST, NTIA, Military Regs, Federal Architecture, 
  • ITIL v4 Foundations Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) 
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems 
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to engage with senior management, potential customers. 
  • Applicant should be prepared to submit writing sample to support experience 

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time.  The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.  The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
