Therapist - Crisis Access and Intake - Youth

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Crisis Access and Intake Therapist to join our youth crisis clinic team. The Crisis Access and Intake Therapist provides crisis intervention and support to youth and families experiencing an acute crisis. Complete admission evaluations with youth/adolescent clients and their guardian. Coordinate services to ensure timely and appropriate services based on child/youth level of functioning and mental health symptoms. Provide initial follow up with clients and staff to ensure customer satisfaction

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides crisis interventions, assessments and resource planning to children and their families who are in acute crisis.This would include youth and families who are and are not open to PACES services.
  • Completes coordination of care for youth needing hospitalization or crisis stabilization.
  • Facilitates crisis intervention to deescalate situation, assesses for risk and protective factors, and coordinates services to ensure safety for clients and families who may be experiencing an acute crisis.
  • Completes intakes for admission to the Community Mental Health Center.
  • Identifies strengths and needs of client/consumer and families and acts to involve them in planning for desired services. Assesses for functional impairments that are impacting youth in the home, school and/or community.
  • Provides specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate to training and experience.
  • Familiarizes client/consumer with community resources for educational, cultural, recreational and social activities.
  • Works with team members, community partners and service organizations to closely collaborate care and other community services or resources.
  • Completes clinical assessments to determine the necessity of higher levels of care.
  • Works collaboratively with law enforcement during walk-in hours or during community interventions.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of services in the medical record.
  • Models and inspires flexibility and creativity in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Assures staff and program compliance with Medicaid, State licensing regulations, grants, and other contractual standards.
  • Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor or designate.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree and be a Kansas Licensed Mental Health Professional.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both oral and written.
  • Experience and rapport development skills with people experiencing acute crisis.
  • Ability to establish effective on-going working relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Relevant experience in mental health emergency services.
  • Complies with all relevant Center positions and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Clearance through the Kansas Child Abuse & Neglect Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, criminal background check, Motor Vehicle Dept. check and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursable inquiry.
