Job Summary

Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and performs preventative maintenance and repair work throughout assigned facilities – Main Library and Alta Branch Library. Manages budget, special projects and vendor supply contracts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Prioritizes and delegates work assignments; prepares vendor/contractor work schedules; may provide or assist with employee training; logs preventative maintenance and repair work completed.
  • Assists with the development of the budget; tracks expenses; submits invoices for payment; itemizes equipment inventory; orders parts, equipment, and supplies; solicits quotes.
  • Recommends vendors and provides contract administration.
  • Conducts walk-though of buildings, including the Main Library and Alta Branch Library, to check for operation of all mechanical systems and identify maintenance needs; may participate in completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Supports the relationship between library staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and library staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and library information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in facilities operations preferred AND three years of experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Specific technical skills training and certifications may be required depending upon area of assignment.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Library policies and procedures.
  • Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision and training.
  • Fundamental operations and repairs of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Working with little or no supervision.
  • Providing supervision and delegating tasks.
  • Performing general maintenance work.
  • Preparing and administering a budget.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Majority of work is performed in a standard office environment; may participate in maintenance work that involves exposure to dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.
  • Required to respond to facilities emergencies after hours and on weekends, as needed.
