GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources and Business Manager is responsible for supervision and direction of all aspects of human resources. Leading the human resources department regarding all areas of recruitment and retention, organizational development, general administration, benefit administration, employee relations, and personnel management. This position will report directly to the Director of Finance

TYPICAL WORK ROUTINE INCLUDES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Actively drive the Classic Center’s value, vision, brand and mission; an embodiment of the company’s culture in and out of the workplace
  2. Review and approve annual company employee and manager training schedule and training programs created by Vice President of Convention Center and Education with final approval by President and CEO
  3. Review proposed new training programs including guest speakers, online training and off-site seminars. Ensure all off site trainings are rotated and merit based.
  4. Lead annual employee appreciation event and company holiday party reinforcing culture.
  5. Lead quarterly company goal rally meetings and update goals during meeting.
  6. Be the main point of contact along with their supervisors for employees to reach out to for questions, inquiries, concerns and opportunities as it concerns their employment with The Classic Center or any Human Resources items
  7. Maintain The Classic Center Handbook. Review for updated changes and have changes approved by the President and CEO.
  8. Review management trainee program created by VP of Education and Convention Center to ensure program is aligned with school curriculum and or articulation agreements.
  9. Review and coordinate internship program details within each department created by VP of Education and Convention Center
  10. Creates, edits and reviews with the Department Head associated on their department employment announcements/postings and notifications for open positions when they become available.
  11. Lead in the posting such notifications to the public via a variety of platforms.
  12. Sources, recruits and schedules interviews for available positions.
  13. Represent The Classic Center at job and internship fairs.
  14. Approves bi-weekly payroll for The Classic Center and ensure all deductions including benefits and garnishment are correct. Ensures all paperwork and source documentation is saved in appropriate secure payroll folder.
  15. Conducts exit interviews with employees who are leaving to determine reasons behind separations.
  16. Remains current on all laws and regulations to ensure the company remains in compliance with all federal, state and local ordinances, and or regulations as they relate to all areas of human resources, insurance policies, benefits, osha regulations, and/or labor laws, safety and fair treatment of our employees.
  17. Understands, communicates and negotiates benefits including health, dental, retirement, life, LTD, vacation and sick for all employees. Answers questions related to benefits to all employees. Handle the annual benefit enrollment and continued insurance throughout the year.
  18. Lead the annual benefit review process, working with the Executive Vice President of Administration and Entertainment to ensure fringe benefits afforded to employees are in line with budget parameters and current trends. Recommend changes/modifications to the fringe benefits offerings in order to reduce annual expense line items. Ensure appropriate compensation profile and keep employees within standards., with final approval from the President and CEO.
  19. Maintain strong base of knowledge with regard to pertinent human resource, insurance (OSHA) and accounting policies and procedures, relating to accounting for a Governmental entity and ensure compliance with all laws related to governmental authorities. Recommend updates to Executive Vice President of Administration and Entertainment as necessary. Once refined bring to the President and CEO for approval prior to the President and CEO bringing to the Board for their approval.
  20. Lead the yearly Worker’s Compensation review. Prepare necessary payroll files for auditor and assist with any additional needs of the audit.
  21. Assist with accounting and finance responsibilities in order to maintain appropriate separation of duties, and provide appropriate documentation for the audit
  22. Review and recommend programs, procedures, and resources designed to maximize existing and potential sources of revenue. Such areas might include altering existing sources, expanding them, or creating new revenue sources altogether.
  23. Responsibly and actively pursue and recommend means in which cost savings can be achieved in any areas of the business operation. These means should be approached without sacrificing existing quality and with the direct intent of improving it.
  24. Remains a high level of professionalism in which they approach others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position, accepts responsibility for own actions, and follows through on commitments.
  25. As a manager maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and ensure they are representing the facility in a way which is keeping with our slogan of be impressed. This position is expected to ensure a high level of confidentiality as they will be privy to a great deal of sensitive information.
  26. Other Duties as Assigned, including but not limited to all those typical of a Human Resources professional
