Adventure Summary

The Electronic Data Interchange Integration Specialist will be responsible for EDI, API and Data Feed requirements and activities. This role supports partner integration processes, adds new partners to the system and assists the team in improving overall systems and procedures. The EDI Partner Integration Specialist will be working in conjunction with vendors, consultants, the IT systems team, and (internal/external) customers. Provide process and technical analyst support for application functions. Will work with the Application Development Team to create systems, ensure user requirements are satisfied, releases to production are defect free, and systems/changes will perform as expected and not adversely impact operations. Will setup, manage and monitor partner integration related business systems and provide partner integration metrics regularly.

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with EDI, API and Data Feed Setup with Business Partners and Vendors.
  • Analyzes partner requirements and ensures those requirements are met within each setup and implementation
  • Helps manage EDI/API related business systems, monitor EDI/API daily actives, and assist with providing weekly EDI/API metrics.
  • Work with Brownell’s EDI/API Partners to ensure successful EDI/API transactions with business partners and vendors and troubleshoot issues as required with assistance.
  • Performs changes or enhancements to EDI application interfaces and mappings
  • Ensure EDI, API and Data Feed systems and integrations are running properly
  • Responsible for the maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting partner integration systems
  • Evaluate business requirements, generate and execute manual and automated testing, and maintain test scenarios, cases, and scripts to ensure requirements coverage and replicability with positive and negative testing.
  • Identify, report, and track product defects as well as addressing need for additional product functionality in a clear and concise form.
  • Conduct software compatibility tests against changing programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments.


Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Application Development Team to help create systems the meet customer needs.
  • Provide estimation of tasks, and on-time delivery against stated schedules.
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, usability, or testing implications.
  • Collaboratively works with developers with test scenarios for test-driven development supporting an agile approach.
  • Take initiative, prioritize, and manage multiple detailed tasks in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation


What You Will Need

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Two plus years of relevant experience (such as creating requirements/test plans/cases/scripts) or equivalent education (BA/BS degree and 1 year of relevant experience)
  • BA/BS degree preferred, but not required


Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with APIs a plus
  • Experience with XML and CSV file formats a plus
  • Experience with ERPs (ie. Infor M3) a plus
  • Familiar with programming and database concepts including SQL, and a basic understanding of web services a plus
  • Experience dealing with trading partners and end business users through several phases of EDI communications
  • Experience in various testing methodologies (white vs. black box test work, system vs. functional)
  • Familiar with Test Driven Development (TDD), Waterfall, or Agile (Kanban or Scrum) methodologies

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
