POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications will collaborate with the Director of Athletic Communications on publicity efforts for the College's 22-sport Division III varsity intercollegiate program. Responsibilities will include updating the College website and social media sites; a focus on the athletics department multimedia functions, assisting with game day operations including live streaming video and live stats; editing promotional videos; designing, writing and editing game programs and post-event releases; formulating and writing feature stories on Moravian student-athletes; and reporting results to local and regional media.
Multimedia includes but is not limited to all athletics photography needs, enhancing and continuing the video production of athletic events, managing all social media websites, and other duties as assigned by the DAC or other athletics department officials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the publicity efforts for the College's 22-sport Division III varsity intercollegiate program.
- Effectively communicate with local, regional, national and hometown members of the media.
- Maintain and update DAR website www.moraviansports.com and provide social media content and delivery.
- Develop, produce, edit and disseminate Athletic Department press releases, providing daily updates and enhancements to the website.
- Effectively operate all statistics programs compiling accurate statistics.
- Supervision of Sports Information game day staff (including but not limited to scorers, statisticians, photographers and videographers, media streaming) in compliance with institutional, NCAA, Centennial and Landmark conferences, regulations and policies.
- Management of Athletic Department photo images inventory and archives.
- Direct the production of live video streaming of the Greyhound Sports Network of as many home events as possible each year including audio and commercials for sponsors.
- Provide support as needed to the Communications and Marketing Office.
- Perform other job-related duties as needed, or as may be assigned by the Director of Athletic Communication.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree is required and experience in a sports information office as a student or postgraduate is preferred. A general working knowledge of a collegiate athletics department as well as experience with photography, webcasting, video production software, and video web streaming are a plus but not required. Displaying the ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced high-pressure environment are essential.
Other qualifications include: knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Premiere and Illustrator; strong writing and communication skills; knowledge of statistical software programs (NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew, PrestoStats), previous experience in athletic communications; solid understanding of sports and sports statistics; and a willingness to work nights and weekends.
