Share Email Opening Title Academy Gold Extern - Summer 2021  Description Academy GOLD is a global talent development and inclusion initiative that provides creative individuals of diverse backgrounds access and resources to achieving their career pathways in filmmaking. The initiative includes professional and creative development opportunities for above and below-the-line career pursuits through the Academy's established programs - GOLD Rising, GOLD Fellowship for Women, the Student Academy Awards, and the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. Academy GOLD also offers a full continuum of support for all past participants and award recipients of these programs through the newly established GOLD Alumni Program. This externship will provide opportunity for students who are interested in exploring career pathways within non-profit organizations, the film industry, talent development programs, and diversity & inclusion initiatives to learn more about roles and jobs that exist in these areas. This unpaid externship will take place virtually over the summer for one hour a week between June 21 and August 6, 2021. This hour will also be supplemented with opportunity to attend select Academy Gold Rising programming throughout the summer. Description: You will learn different facets of what goes into running a program for a non-profit and film organization, shadow, attend meetings, and have meetings set up with a variety of levels of staff and managers to not only hear about their career pathway, but learn firsthand what skills are looked for by hiring managers for roles such as these. Examples of functional areas that will be explored - inclusive pipeline recruitment, alumni programs, mentor programs, operations for group film pitch projects, career development.   Position Requirements Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. A desire and aptitude to work in non-profit, film, talent development, and/or diversity and inclusion. A passion for film. The Academy’s Gold Rising program (formerly Academy Gold) is an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities for a nationwide pool of diverse talent. Externs will not be part of the Academy’s Gold Rising program formally but will have the opportunity to participate in some select programming such as select panels and Lunch & Learn sessions.
