Senior Specialist, Academy Gold Mentorship and Alumni Program 

Description

The Academy Gold Rising program is an industry-wide diversity internship enhancement program. The program launched in June 2017 with over 20 entertainment and media companies participating in hosting interns from multicultural and underrepresented communities looking for an entree into the film and entertainment industry. After its second year in the program, the Academy has now hosted over150 undergraduate and graduate students in an inclusive industrywide education and networking initiative aimed at broadening awareness in film, television, production, finance, marketing, screenwriting and other disciplines with the goal of enabling students to gain a strategic foothold into the industry for future career opportunities.

 

Reporting to the Director, Academy Gold Inclusion and Alumni Program, this position will focus on tracking and optimizing the experience of our Academy Gold Mentor and Alumni participants. This position requires a solutions-driven, people-focused, and project-oriented approach and is responsible for executing alumni relations initiatives and projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for incoming communication for the Academy Gold Mentorship and Alumni programs.
  • Support Director in the execution of infrastructure for and expansion of a formal alumni program across all Academy Talent Development & Inclusion Programs.
  • Drive the execution of alumni and mentor engagement events and activities.
  • Prepare alumni materials including newsletters, social media posts (in conjunction with the social media team), and other communications as needed.
  • Research, vet and implement forward thinking and sustainable tools for tracking Academy alumni career progress metrics in the entertainment industry.
  • Manage alumni database across all Foundation programs to track metrics, prepare reports, and manage updates as needed.
  • In partnership with alumni team, devise creative approaches to comingling and engaging alumni.
  • Craft and collect related questionnaires and feedback from mentors.
  • In partnership with the Director, work closely with the Talent Development & Inclusion programs teams and Member Relations to continue to refine and improve Academy Gold’s growing mentorship program.
  • Cultivate relationships with Academy Gold Rising interns to understand their areas of interest and effectively help partner each intern with a mentor in their desired field.
  • Provide program updates and progress reports to Alumni team.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience with alumni programs, preferably within a nonprofit, foundation, education, or other related industry.
  • Prior exposure to alumni engagement, assessment, survey practices, and student, career or alumni advising.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and a vested interest in equity and inclusion.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Proficiency with database management. Experience with CRMs highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with project management tools. Experience with Airtable highly preferred.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to easily manipulate and analyze data.
  • Proven time management and project management skills, including staying organized while managing multiple and changing priorities under the pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams to get things done.
  • Track record of demonstrated admirable, professional and emotional maturity when interacting with all levels of clients, stakeholders, and constituents.
